Yes. I think Elon Musk is about to send a rocket to outer space, and you probably can't receive too many messages there from people you don't like. Also, if that is too far out for you, there is a button to "Block User" which should work after you have received a message from someone you don't want to associate with. Finally, in Settings, you can limit people by age, by distance from you, and a few other parameters also.
