Based on the social media commentary among young men, single women with children are a big non-no. Among their reasons, is the fact they will probably occupy a number two spot with the kids being first.

A second reason is the fact they may not have a say in how the kids are raised and yet find themselves financing the rearing of another man’s children. These two factors are critical in their risk-return calculation.

When one reaches senior years, candid (civil) commentary can be very refreshing.

I'm laughing because I just told my sister that I was going for the famous Hollywood age spread of 20 to forty years. Dick Van Dyke, who married his much younger make-up gal, is now 100 years. I'm guessing his wife is in her forties, so he may have entered the world record book.

But I wonder if there's something more subtle at play beneath the surface. We all wish to be remembered -- to leave a legacy and retain a hold on the future. Is having a younger spouse carry on, representing our story and values after we exit the earthly realm one way of doing that?

In my particular case, my wife of 43 years decided it was the proverbial last straw when I told her my extensive research had led me to conclude, that the med-Pharma complex couldn’t be trusted re the need for testing and the vaxx. She told me she was on a different “page” and exited.

I guess that leads me to add “loyalty” to my list of attractive traits in a spouse.

Another factor could come into play in terms of older men and younger women. It’s that some of the younger demographic are rebelling against the tenets of feminism. That in itself sounds attractive to me.
