why some people choose silence when they are in an upsetting situation?
like a couple why don't people talk over the situation, so they can fix it together in a civil manner?
and i know that some people would say that most of the times the counterpart gets violent or agressive when they get upset, so that is why they choose silence.
As far as i understand talking over things is the best manner to solve issues.
on the other hand, it upsets me even more when the other person chooses to hide instead of talking over things.

just my opinion.

Suffering silence is the phrase that comes to mind. Ignoring a person is mean... cruel. You doubt yourself and your standing in the relationship. I say if you cannot get over your anger in a few hours time you need anger management.

I agree. Once you cease communication, you eliminate any possibility of a resolution. As long as there's still communication, there can be an increase -- now matter how minimal -- in understanding....

I personally keep quiet when upset, so that I don't say something hurtful in anger. This was when I was with the last man in my life. He would not stop yelling, so instead of yelling back and making it worse, I would stay quiet and it would settle in a short time. Just my thoughts on this

my childhood was much like that. my parents would argue quite vocally, and those arguments would spill over onto what my brother or i were doing, mostly out of pure spite. and since we would constantly be cut off by their constant yelling, the only recourse we'd have would be to just shut our mouths and take it.

sometimes when I am upset about something..I simply need to walk away..gather my thoughts.... alone....

Then come back and have a rational conversation..

I will tell the person..I need a few min or hours..depending on the situation..

Usually I can handle things right then and there..

But the silent treatment or violence etc is wrong..

And I don't do things that way...

I preferr peace... happy flowerforyou

Actually I think sex is a great adhesive in a relationship. Even when you are upset, if you leave it at the bedroom door there's a lot of healing that can take place when you are transparent & vulnerable (as you are when naked) ...
