There is nothing wrong with keeping your last name. You took that name 17 yrs ago and it was meant for life. It's your name and always will be until you re-marry

Ditto!

It is your legal last name. With all the trouble it is with driver's license and other legal things like that getting a name change could really be a big hassle.

My mother went through this. When my parents divorced my mother was already a very well-respected member of the community (president of the Chamber of Commerce) so she kept the name for professional reasons. Later, she remarried but hyphenated her new last name with my father's last name. Her husband didn't mind due to her being such a known name. Recently, her husband died so she dropped his name and still goes by my father's last name.

The way I see it....your significant other is a titty-baby. Tell him to grow up.

What do you all think??? am I wrong???

Eh...it's you name. You're the one that has to live with it. If he doesn't like it, that's too bad. It sounds like he has some confidence issues if something as little as your last name can make him feel insecure in your relationship with him. If that's true, then that's really his problem to deal with, not yours.

Ok..so this is the question..(I would like to know how
Everyone feels about this subject).

I am a Divorced Woman and have been for well
over a year now, I was Married for 17 + years,
We never had children...
I have kept my married name, (just have not changed
it back yet)...I have done alot of thinking about it
and I was my married name for over 17 years and that is almost as long as I was unmarried. That's alot of history..

I guess My question is , Why is it so wrong for me to keep
my married name? I was told recently by a good friend of mine
that I have started getting Very close to..that he feels this is wrong..and that he feels like I still belong to my Ex by keeping his name..

What do you all think??? am I wrong???

No, I kept mine. I write under this name and have used it for a long long time now so I feel I have the right to keep it. New men are always gonna feel that way but they get used to it after time of knowing you. HTHflowerforyou

A rose by any other name.... is still a rose.

I have my married name still even though it has been over 9 years since we were done, finished...

BFD....

We were married 18 years, and I had that name longer than the name of my adopted parents, and my birth name I had only for six weeks...

names are names, who gives a rat's arse what other's think... you get to be whoever you want to be.

I keep my married name as my four children also share that name, however, my eldest daughter is changing hers by deed poll to my birth name...

her choice.

You should do what you feel you should do.I don't think there is anything wrong with keeping your married name, everyone knows you by that name, why make things complicated. If you go back to your maddian name then possibly in the futur get married again. Sounds like a big hassale if you are comfortable with it the way it is.
