A friend came over with a modem punched in some stuff and now I have free internet on both my laptop and a wireless connection for when I want to go wireless.

Free its built into and comes with my condo.......its a Y-Fi thing.....and the city of Tempe were I live is one of the few citys in America that provides it for free to its residents.

thats cheap.it is over a hundred dollars here.
It is here too... But if you put in a Linux server with appropriate security and bandwidth management..a few wires...an amplified outdoor antenna.. Buy a bunch of wireless transceivers and sell them to your neighbors. You can get the cost down in a big hurry. |
