be honest, confident...be himself just say hi & make conversation... some guys on here, even when they IM keep their comments really short.... it gets boring... make conversation.... it's the only way to get to know each other...... especially online...

Best way is to have someone who knows both of you introduce you. If you don't have that option, try to think of a reason to start a discussion. Try to look for something in common. If you really can't think of anything, just smile & see her reaction. If she smiles back, say hello, compliment her on something(dress, hair, eyes) & ask if she will dance with you.

i'll never understand how man don't understand this... and i can't tell ya how many times i've seen THIS question posted on THIS site..lol just talk to her, say hi, tell her something to get her attention on YOU specifically, then ask her how her day was..get YOU in and ON her mind get on her mind, and once you're in her head, she's gonna wanna talk to you does this help you at all?
