I not only missed out on having children but also grandchildren.

Hi Carolanne, my son is adopted so I missed out on giving birth but would not trade him for the world. There were a few things about raising him I could have done without, but can't imagine not having him. He's about to be married this fall but, unfortunately, I don't think she wants to have children. So far I've been able to keep my disappointment to myself!

this is not a good day to ask me about the joys of having children. I swear mine is trying to kill me. I used to say either my son or I would not live to see him turn 21. He will be 38 this summer. We both survived!!

Only friends who knew what I was going through know how bad it was. Anyone meeting him now would never believe the stories I could tell. Hang in there, they do outgrow it eventually! I think he was in his 30's lol

I can identify. Was married for 21 years to a man who turned out to be sterile. Didn't realize that until I had all the tests and my systems were all fine. He had no interest in adopting. So.... no kids. Big hole in my life and a large empty spot in my arms for years. Now, I "adopt" my friends kids and grandkids. Being a "surrogate" mom and grandma is okay by me.

I buy for my nephew, his wife, and their two boys. I've been spending Christmas with my sister and her partner. We do stockings and presents for each other. It helps.

I spoil my great nephews but because everyone goes to there inlaws for Christmas my family ends up celebrating early usually a week before.I am a step mother but the kids live in Alberta and don't want anything to do with me since my husband has passed on.

 No but my love is unconditional! Now that Grand, just one year old and ATTITUDE....phewww! But she does what Divas do! Ok, so I spoiled her rotten, loving it!
