Hey all- I'm hoping to get a bit of advice and some ideas so if anyone out there has any suggestions, please let me know. I'm looking for somewhere fun and safe to go by myself, but am a bit skeptical. I'm looking for somewhere with nice reefs, probably in the Caribbean. I have found a site that hosts special events on cruises for singles, but the catch is you have to book through them in order to join in on the events(and who know what you’re getting, and from whom.) Most hotels prices are based on double occupancy. Even when I find a decent hotel at a good single rate, there are no activities for singles to get in to. I really like the beach and snorkeling and could do that alone and be quite happy, but I would like to meet some new people too. Know of any site out there that offer “such and animal”? Of course above all, safety is my main concern, so let me know of anywhere you would not travel alone.
Thanks, can’t wait to hear from you.

don't really have a budget in mind. I'm thinking about 2-$3,000. I do like the idea of all-inclusive since I did that in jamacia and really saved money, but that was for couples only(sandals) Ever used breezes? i think they are all inclusive too

Go to Panama... especially a region there known as "Vocas Del Toro". There's a resort there known as "Bananas", and it's a total party zone. Loads of half-naked hot people taking part in all sorts of lascivious behavior there. It's a single person's paradise.

Unfortunately, I only know this from third-hand knowledge. I made the GRAND mistake of going to another resort hotel known as the "Melia Panama Canal" near Colon. They shoulda called that place the "Melia Shady Acres", as that place was deader than a doornail.

In fact, you know you're in trouble when the only form of excitement that takes place out there is when the blue-hairs come in from the pleasure cruises that dock in the nearby harbor. The smell of Geritol and Ben-Gay would get simply overpowering after a while.

I have been solo travelling for over 20 years. Been working my way around the world having a ball.
Just about to do it again after spending 8 miserable years in the UK
In fact I could list it as a vocation. Professional beach bum

It depends on what you want to do.

Do you want to work to supplement your travelling?
Do you just want to "party"
Are you prepared to rough it a little?

The possibilities are endless.

Yeah, you should. It's a pretty cool place. The people are nice, the food's great, and the scenery is very cool.

Everyone goes to Panama City to vacation, but that doesn't mean you have to ignore the other parts of the country as well. I went pretty much all over the place when I was there around four years ago- I went to Portobelo, Colon, Panama City, Campana (which is in the more mountainous, not so rainy part of Panama), Panama City, Flamenco Island (a kind of shopping mall on an island) and San Lorenzo which supposedly has one of Christopher Columbus' original settlements when he supposedly discovered the "New World".

In fact, the city of Colon (the beaches there, to be specific) was evidently where ol' Christopher set foot on when he got off his boat way back when. There's a whole statue dedicated to the man there and everything.

I'd definitely go back to Panama again if I had the shot. It was a pretty memorable trip, even if it WAS for work (which pretty much detracted from all the fun that probably shoulda been had over there).

Incase you are planning to roam alone and also plan to meet locals and have feel of the place then in my opinion GOA - India is perfect place but suggest to plan your vacation during Monsoon as this time it will be too hot.

I travel alone most of the time. The key is to stick to a reputable resort closed to the local population. All Inclusive resorts are very good for singles. The environment is similar to a cruise ship but you are not at sea. You usually get an activity newsletter placed under your door daily and there's something for everyone including spa treatments. Check out the Starfish in Jamaica:

Try Australia...the great barrier reef is awesome. Carnes is moderate tropical weather...and snorkeling can be fun.

An alternative to Mexico is The Dominican Republic, DR. All advertised prices for the all inclusives tend to have a 50% premium for single travelers. Least expensive DR tends to be Punta Cana. It is on the atlantic side. Water on the carribean side is a little warmer and calmer. Atlantic waves are still small unless there is some weather driving them. Try snorkeling 1/4 mile from hotel, look for snorklers that are spearing fish, this will lead you to the right place. They speak German as second language to Spanish so english isn't really functional. Keep this in mind if you are not comfortable drawing pictures and working out a request. Most visitors wer European so the beaches were a little more topless than mexico. No matter where you go tropical, if mold affects you negatively, stick with bigger name hotels, the smaller ones are older and prone to having some fungus in the air. If you have room problems anywhere, try asking nicely for another room, and maybe grease the guys palm lightly. Oh and the latest thing I have done to check out a resort is to look at it on Google or mapquest satellite photos, you can get the general location from the resort address and then key in on the resort with the right swimming pool shape. This will let you see the actual beach and adjacent area so if you want to be next to town, you can see how far it is, etc. Stay close to the resort staff if you have any safety concerns, they have guards and one actually walked my companion to the beach and back one night.
