JSH before: friendly place where all the threads were friendly, and everybody was invited into the conversation.

JSH now: close circles of friends, in close threads, where newbies are usually (read this word "usually" which means most of the times, but not always) ignored.

I don't think that's really true... I agree there are people that are friends with each other but I don't exclude anyone from conversations

I am quite new and have found most people to be very friendly.

May be they're running out of interesting topics now, unlike before, everyone gets excited to post that it freezes the site for a second and everyone cant help but shouts out "I'm a JSH addict!"

There are a couple of small cliques, but they're eminently ignorable because they never post anything of substance.

They may appear to be "bigger" then they really are, because a few of them post quite a lot. If you're not part of their cabal, and you post in a thread started by one of them, you will be ignored, unless another non-member is in that thread.

But this is still much better than the situation when I first signed up (December of 2006) -- at that point, there was a clique composed entirely of "original" members, who were actively hostile toward newcomers. I'm thankful that most, if not all, of those people are gone now, and we have a friendlier environment.

It isn't perfect, but given the growth of the site, and the number of new members just in the past few months, I'd say things aren't really so bad....
