Why cant she put it up when shes done? This actually make good sense. Surveys show that men don't wash their hands after using the commode with half the frequency as women....so who do you want touching it?

Since I live alone its not an issue. When at a public bathroom I use my foot if I have to touch anything

Since I live alone its not an issue. When at a public bathroom I use my foot if I have to touch anything LOL I do the same!

Otherwise its up to you, if you need the seat down,put it down, if you need it up, you put it up.
