yeah unfortunately a lot of parents are preventive as opposed to ampowering. The intentions are good, to protect and shield but the results are not always healthy

we learn the rough points (right and wrong) from parents who ever they may be, blood or other, and we learn the fine points from friends, enemies, teachers, and the people we admire, as well as our own self figuring things out, and we develope our consience through these things that shape us.
it also depends how much our parents are connected with our lives, and their upbringing, as well as our ancestors that influence the whole chain up to now.
