Age is not "just a number." Two is "just a number." Although it is a
very nice number, indeed.

If a person has physically, intellectually and emotionally progressed
"normally," there is a significant difference in a person who's, say,
40, and a person who's, say, 20.

I agree with jean. Age is important, no one wants to be left in the dust
because their young thing wakes up one day and says what am I doing with
this old fart. Because now your just an older fart than you were. BUT
here's the thing. We're taught to build and plan for the future, but
what if the future is not going to go beyond say 5 years. So what if
you hook up with someone much younger but refuse to commit because of
the age thing. You break her heart and yours for fear of a future
disappointment. But then a year from now you hear she was hit by a car
and died. She could have been the love of your live, you WOULD have
been the love of hers.

We can not fear to tread where love chooses to take us. Sometimes the
gain is worth the risk.

you can't generalize about this kind of thing. everyone is individual.
oldsage had an incredible experience with a woman who was 7 years older.
i dated a girl who was 4 years older and she turned out to be incredibly
needy and immature.

Frst GUESS; comitted to fast. We had a fantastic friendship that grew
to more. About 2+ yrs from friends to lovers. Just my opinion, people
rush things, get comittment in their head BEFORE they really know the
each other. Just a thought.

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I'd never have a relationship
with someone 20 years my junior ...or my senior. It has nothing to do
with what their personality is, in terms of whether or not we'd be
compatible; it has nothing to do with whether or not they'd turn out to
be "needy and immature;" it has to do with, generally speaking, the two
people have little in the way of life's experiences in which you can
relate to one another.

And again, by that I don't mean someone who's 25 and who has (seemingly)
"lived a lifetime." I went through hell before I turned 25, but I've
still grown, learned, lived and experienced more in the ensuing years
and have matured in a way that no 20-something ever could have -- until
they actually have lived life themselves for that many years.

A 10-year or so age difference (being from the same decade, for
instance) to me, isn't that big of a deal, but if you're talking 15,
20...no way. I don't need another child to raise; I do prefer dating
younger men, for the most part, but 20 years' difference would be, to
me, is far too wide a margin.

I would think age shouldn't matter, it's all about comfort and if he or
she isn't comfortable with a big age difference then find you're comfort
zone. I look at my age as how I feel on the inside and out I'm much
younger at heart. I feel 35.
