Getting offended by words!!!!!!!!!
What is the reason of getting offended by words?
Words technically mean something what we call the dictionary meaning of the term.
However, depending upon the context in which words are used they may hold a different meaning.
Or depending on what ears hear these words they may mean a different thing.
So if the above premises are true, and only in the event of their plausability.
why an individual has to feel ofended by the words of another individual?
unless these words are a direct attack towards another person.
if the communication channel is not set properly is hard to really know in which context words are said.
for instance in this threads at least for me the only way to know if somebody is offensive is when it's a direct attack somebody.
Other than that we are just assuming things which we really don't know if we are not within the same communication channel and context.
Therefore, it follows that truth is relative upon the observer which means that what I say might have a different meaning from what the reader understands.
If this silogism is correct then I don't have any other option to conclude that is absolutely worthless getting offended without a real cause.

I think this is an interesting subject. I know someone that takes everything personally, whether it's directed toward her or not... and this makes it extremely difficult to have any type of real conversations with her. Considering this woman is my mother, it's been difficult to not be the same way. I like to think I've grown out of it a lot, but I can't say that I have completely. It's called personalizing... thinking as if the world revolves solely around you... that everything is about you... that everyone is criticizing you.

If someone laughs from across the room, surely... they MUST be laughing at you. If someone says that someone else hurt their feelings... it must be YOUR fault.

It's not only a form of jealous behavior, but it's also because of a lack of self-esteem. If some people could learn to be concerned about others without thinking of themselves in the process, it might help.

I'd be curious to see what kind of suggestions people have to help this problem.

I love it when people who judge others harshly accuse others of judging people harshly. How awesome is this world?!
