This has nothing to do with picking on anybody in particular...it's just
asking people what their pet peeves are in regard to that particular
subject. Geez, people. Chill out. It's apparently okay to talk about
other things that are bothersome (i.e., profiles with no pics, etc.) but
not this? Get a grip. It's not that big a deal. Sheesh.

P.S. But the responses speak volumes, I must say.

Jean you can clearly tell that you are pin pointing somebody out.
Anybody that knows the person and the site can see that. It would not
even be a normal pet peeve as you have not even been on the site for
that long. It honestly really does sound like you are just picking on
somebody.

If I was pinpointing somebody out, I'd name names. You have no right to
assess the intent behind my words. You are clearly WRONG.

For your information, I'm an editor and I ran across a transcript today
(as I often do) which was replete with such errors. It's tedious and
frustrating to have to correct adults (who are professionals in their
field, to boot) who have English skills that are worse than those of
most first-graders.

It is a pet peeve of mine, and is no worse than mentioning anything else
in these forums that are pet peeves.

We can talk about farting (how disgusting) blow jobs, religious
differences, etc., but grammatical pet peeves is taboo?

I saw no-where did she extend a direct, or indirect SHOT at any one ..
It just seemed to me that she gets annoyed when someone ( no one in
particular) uses grammically incorrect text...
I think her expalination is valid.

you know i hate it when i try and type and i misspell words and use bad
grammer like run on sentences that go on and on and on and on for now
apperant reason then to make it all worse i end up putting stupid lil
typos and such but the whole thing i see as funny because im not
thinking about really how it should be written as what it is ai want to
say and sometimes my brain moves faster than my hands and vice versa not
to mention a couple puncuation marks would probobly do wonders for the
rest of the world tryin to understand what im saying

I for one am picking on myself because i am the worst typist &
speller on the site.

YOU may know that there is "one person" on this site that uses that
symbol, but I certainly don't. It's a common error and one I've run
across practically every single day in my work as an editor for the past
20-plus years, as well as seeing it on dating sites' forums and other
chatrooms, etc.

It's but one of several pet peeves of mine with regard to the butchering
of the English language. Bottom line is, some people care about how they
come across via the written word, and others simply don't. Has nothing
to do with pointing anyone out in particular. Again, had my intention
been to do that, I'd simply have named names. Stop trying to stir up
trouble, okay?
