The only thing I have to say is.. People fail to realize the good we've done. The lives lost were a terrible thing. But, every last person in the military knows what's at stake before they even sign the contract. I mean for christs sake... Couples are holding hands in public, women are loosing traditional clothes and dawning jeans, married couples are not afraid to say things like I love you in public or within ear shot of other people.. That right there is proof that our pressence has done something.

All those things were in Iraq before we invaded. They also had a world class education and medical system before we destroyed their infrastructure!
You should read up on the facts before claiming that!
Afghanistan? I will agree to all that, but in Iraq you are wrong!

Here ya go.
Iraqis aren't merely boozing it up. Men are shaving their beards; women are wearing jeans and taking off their headscarves; couples are holding hands in public. Musicians and DJs feel safe to take more gigs at weddings and parties. In the grassy riverside parks alongside Baghdad's Abi Nawas Street, young couples sit close on the new sod. Amin Hussein, 21, flips and spins, showing off some moves from the Brazilian martial arts he was forbidden from teaching in his neighborhood until a few months ago. ("This is an Islamic country," militia enforcers warned him.) Hussein, a fan of rapper Snoop Dogg, says he's hopeful about the future: "Now the liberals are stronger." Other entertainers have their own devotees—"Shakira good!" declares 19-year-old Mohammed Mizo, who says he gets heckled less for his spiky hair

Let me find the links!
Before the war Iraq had several world class Universities and Hospitals.
Women did not wear traditional Muslim clothing and were afforded everything western women are!

laugh laugh laugh so your saying because we're there.. WE destroyed they're world class schooling.. And hospitals? wow.. I don't know what websites you've been on. I'd love to go to them. It's funny that we have to give the children they're immunizations.. Because they cant get them anywhere else. Wait.. Because we destroyed they're hospitals right?

Saddam Hussein was small potatoes.

Just another tin-pot dictator holding onto his crumbling empire.

But the neocons with their lust for war profiteering had to get us into a war ginned up by flimsy evidence.

Everyone is missing the point except for a few people.

Basically, use this rule of thumb:

You don't have to support the President, but you DA#M sure better support the troops!

Ya with me, Army?

Neoconservatism and freedom for everyone don't coexist.

If you didn't support neoconservatism, then you wouldn't support Bush Jr., because it's the neoconservatives like Karl Rove who got him elected.

I support the right of those who serve in our Armed Forces.

I don't support the President or the ongoing Iraq occupation.

Hooah! lol I'll defend the troops until the day I die. I could give a $hit less who is president. But, people also need to look at the big picture. We pull out now.. Everything we've done. Everyone we've helped all the communities we've gotten to not hate america... All gone. All the people who turned sides to help us. All dead.

Who gives a rat's behind who elected who...as long as they do a good job, don't worry about it.

Liberals, conservatives, moderates, Independents, Republicans, Democrats, Liberal-Republicans, Conservative Democrats, Moderate Independents and about 9 to about 27 other combinations of these....

Anyone see a problem with this picture?

We as humans are simple creatures who make life complex.

Sure, I'd LOVE to have "Whirrled Peas" but it's not in the cards now is it?

Take this and think about it for a minute:

The United Nations in 1947 was established to prevent all these kinds of things from happening. Up until the 1950's, we as the US never really interfered with other nations unless it was our own nation that was threatened. WW2 was the last war where this happened.

In the 1950's during the Korean War, Kim Il Sung (ie madman) begged Stalin to please allow him to invade South Korea. Stalin told him "NO." Finally, after a little coaxing on Sungs part, Stalin allowed it. This was the first time we ever interfered with a nation other than out own that was threatened. The reason for this remains to be debated, but many believe it was the communist threat spreading. This was the mark where the United States INSTEAD of the United Nations of being the Police of the world.

Fast forward to 1979:

The US Embassy in Tehran was invaded. This is an act of war. What did Carter do? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! This was the first act of terrorism on American soil.

1983: The bombing of the Marine Barracks in Beirut. As good as a President Regan was, this was one of his mistakes. We pulled out, this empowered the Terrorists. Plane Hijackings are quite common....

1993: 1st WTC Bombing. Also this year, the Saudi's had Bin Laden in custody...gee imagine which Presidential Administration said we didn't want him?

9-11-2001: Largest attack since Pearl Harbor. We all know the ins and outs of this....

Today: We are fighting a war on more than 2 fronts. Was Iraq a threat? Possibly. But there is one thing that a lot of people forget:

THERE ARE THINGS ABOUT OTHER COUNTRIES THAT OUR GOVERNMENT KNOWS ABOUT THAT IF THESE COUNTRIES KNEW THAT WE KNEW WE WOULD BE IN A WORLD OF $HIT!!!!

TRUST me, as bad as I hate whats going on, we need to go along with it....Terrorism should have been rooted out in 1979....it's been 30 years and nothing was done...now, the next President has to deal with ALL the mess EVERY President made since Carter....

...whoever it is, give the guy a break, will ya? He will be trying to do the best he can....

Except THIS President had to do it by suspending habeas corpus, setting up secret prisons in other countries so we don't get our hands dirty, wiretapping Americans without getting a court order first (which was easy to do), all the while enriching his buddies at Halliburton (D I C K Cheney's former employer, which he still owns a lot of stock in.) and many, many other things, half of which we don't even know about because they're 'classified'.

Worst than Nixon?

YES Classified....I'm not going to argue your point about things "classified" that may be political in nature.

WE as AMERICANS have the NEED and the RESPONSIBILITY to do the right thing. No one is perfect...no president ever will be. Here is my opinion on our presidents:

Eisenhower: Very Good
JFK: Very Good
LBJ: (Jury's still out)
Nixon: Very Good
Ford: Jury also still out on this one, but it doesn't look good to me....
Carter: VERY VERY VERY BAD!
Regan: Exceptional...possibly the best.
Bush Sr.: I'm not going there....
Clinton: There either.....
Bush Jr: Ditto
President #44: Has a TON of fixing to do....

My point is this: We need more people in Congress that are not Lawyers...we need more Doctors, Teachers, etc. in congress....sure, a lawyer or 2 can be there, but lets diversify it a little bit...

We could use a president who was an astronaut, teacher, doctor or something....that would be cool!
