deb...it may seem like you cant take anymore....but you are still here aren't ya? i think it is true that god wont give us more than we can handle....it's in the tough times that you find out who you are, who you want to be, and who your true friends are. i know it may seem like there is no light at the end of the tunnel, but sometimes we have to feel our way around in the darkness of a cave-like world before we find the hidden exit to the light on the other side! hang in there girl...things will come around for ya!flowerforyou

It means that you are stronger than you think and maybe if you stopped thinking about yourself for once and thought about others......you may get it!!flowerforyou

i understand what you're sayng gypsy but that can come off a little harsh... i think about others all the time, but it's hard to ignore your own illness's and wonder how you're going to find the faith to pull urself up again. sometimes... just sometimes... we're the "others" that need to be thought of:heart:

thanks, i do agree with you. ive been ill with this for a long time, i can barly keep awake anymore, but yet every weekend ive babysitted my neice, ive never let her down once even when im this bad.

Yes it is kinda harsh!!! I see alot of people make themselves sicker more with their attitude though. The mind can heal alot more than you think. I see death and pain and suffering everyday....

I battle with some things myself that I am tired of...health issues, etc., but who am I to question God? I'm pretty sure He knows what He is doing. All I can do is stay in His will and believe He is going to keep His promises that are in His Word....perhaps things happen because I step out of His will.

All I know is Jesus bore our sickness and diseases on the Cross and by His stripes we are healed. Why He heals one and not the other I have no idea, but will that shake my faith? Absolutely not....

It is also said that God helps those who help themselves. The two things really go hand in hand.

Sometimes we are given the tools to help ourselves, yet make little effort to utilize them. I know that sometimes choices are hard to make, but if we do not make some sacrifices and efforts on our part to make our lives better, then maybe we've interfered in Gods own plans to help us.

I know that I am very guilty of this where my shoulder injury is concerned. I refused surgery when it was offered...so I can not really complain, because it is my own fault for not taking Gods offer when it presented. Though it is a source of constant pain and limits what I can do, I made my own bed by not biting the bullet, pushing past my fears and accepting the option God laid right in front of me. That was my part...and I failed. That is not Gods fault.

Debbie, I know you want children, but do you honestly think you will try to get pregnant in the kind of pain you're in now? My disease was not as complicated as yours, and it is pretty unlikely that I can have children either. I don't figure your chances could be any better than my own. I can't help but worry that you're putting yourself through all of this for some slim chance at a thing that you may not ever have the desire to try in your present condition.

When I was in that much pain, my Doctor was handed me by God...but I had to travel to North Dakota, where I knew no one and allow this stranger free license to do whatever it took to make it stop. I had to save for two years, as painful as working was at the time. God presents the opportunity...you still have to make it physically manifest for yourself. I did it out of faith, and knowing the surgery could make me lose any chance to have kids...I was young enough for it to be a huge concern then too. I did not take it lightly for sure.

I wish you all the luck in the world, and I know you've heard all this before from me...tiring as it may be to you by now. But, I truly believe this...not all women are meant to have children, and maybe God believes those who cannot will posses the extra capacity for love to provide his many children who can have no mothers.

If I were you, I would not have hesitated to have the surgery that could help you and adopt a child. It is win/win any way you turn it. I can not see it any other way. flowerforyou

god only throws at us what we can take, in my opinion thats rubbish, because personally i cant take no more.

I know what you mean. It's platitudes like that one that make Christainity so hard to understand.

Technically, God doesn't throw anything at us, God allows things to be thrown at us. And yes, God allows more than we can handle to be thrown at us. There is a reason and it's a good one. God wants us to depend upon him and not ourselves or anyone else for our strength. Think about Jacob, who was strong, brave, rich, smart and had several wives. Jacob wrestled with God and God saw that Jacob would fight until he died, so God crippled Jacob. Once he was crippled, Jacob was humbled enough to accept God as his source of strength rather than trying to depend upon his own. Remember the story of Caleb. Moses sent Caleb and others into Canaan to scout. The other scouts trusted in their own strength and were terrified, but Caleb trusted in God's strength and was brave. Fourty years later, the other scouts were dead, but Caleb was still going strong. When Caleb was 85 years old, he was as strong as he had been as a 40 year old man, because he depended upon the Lord for his strength and not himself.

So yes, God will give you more than you can handle, but only if you depend upon yourself or other's for your strength. If you depend upon God for your strength, you can handle any events in your life.

It's only a saying, but of course God is not in the business of sheltering us from life. For me, knowing that an omnipresent diety has my back is not enough. That's just happy wishy stuff. The reality is that some things in life just absolutely suck. Prayer can be powerful, but only if it is ancompanied by hope and strong faith. Fighting against the body requires focus and a mind clear of anxiety. Focus on winning the battle against despair and you will be one step closer.
