one of my favorite places to "play" is an abandoned BOMARC facility in the upper penninsula. Back in the day we would go there to use the runways for "testing" cars. In the 80s the buildings were all still there. There was a HUGE old hanger building on the edge of the runway that we would drive through at speed. There are still antiaircraft pads all over the place. All the bomarc stuff is gone except the loading dock. Back then there was a fenced in area, kind of a micro city with a water tower. There was also an ancient 100'forest fire tower to climb nearby. Someone uses the runways in the winter for testing cars now.
