The invasion of Iraq did two important things.

First, it moved the war out of our front yard, off our street and across town to another neighborhood. Our enemy, meaning the various terror groups and their state sponsors, are having to focus a greater share of their resources in Iraq than we are. If you want to know why we haven’t been attacked since 9/11 its because we’ve done a good job defending against attacks and we’ve gone on the offensive in Iraq and Afghanistan. Because of the nature of modern terrorism, Iraq is depleting the availability of resources to fight elsewhere.

Secondly, the war in Iraq is a planting a seed right were it needs to be planted. Iraq is right between Iran and Syria, the two biggest state sponsors of terror. The Syrian are ruled by a thug and the Iranian people are ruled by religious fanatics. A rising democracy in Iraq is a threat that Iran and Syrian cannot defeat. It will most surely mean the seed of democracy will start to spread and before long revolution in Syria and Iran will bring about an end to the harsh rule of its people.

We will never fully defeat terrorism because there will always be kooks with guns and bombs, but the modern Islamic-faciast terror movement can be weakened to the point that it can be best handled as a law enforcement issue. The problem with Democrats is they don’t want to do the hard work of war before that.

Weren't those WMD's that killed Kurds? Of course Iraq had WMD's (we probably supplied Saddam with our leftovers, as we supplied him with everything else for area domination)...

... and of course there were, are and will be insurgents in every Middle Eastern country....

Noone has mentioned the madrassa schools where 10 and 11 yr old boys are being taught warped idealogy.... and indirectly, how to kill....

but we had no right to invade...none...and if another country had done what we just did...we would be hunting them down right now...We should just mind our own business and stay out of other countries affairs

Saddam who is currently dead was placed in power by the US until he tried to kill the former Bush then he had to be stopped............oh by the way the yellow cake you are concerned about would probably be funded by the US if Saddam was a good little boy..........but he had to try to upstage the people in control and what happens to good boys gone bad you either put them in prison or get rid of them before they say things that they arent suppose to the world.............

I have been against this retardation since the "Secret" countdown to war that was broadcast on public news 6 month in advance of the actual invasion.

But, my feelings aside.....

We went in for WMD's...resolved that.

Then it was regime change...Saddaam is dead.

Then it was instituting democracy....they elected a congress.

Then it was Training and arming thier security forces....They are well armed and have had plenty of training.

At this point....Our troops are in a stagnant policing action confined to perimeters. The local (Middle Eastern terrorists) know exactly where our troops are. They travel in...set traps/ambushes for the occupying infidels (Our troops)...then jet out of the American perimeters to gather more Jihadists to replace the ones who fell in "Glorious Battle"...not to mention got a quick ticket to heaven.

I hate everyday that our government allows this to continue. It is just pointless and stupid.

Your right. We helped put him in power and gave him the technoloy. Yes he had WMD, we help him obtain them...Remember the late 70s!!!

Sorry but untrue garbage as usual, no offense intended. We have heard all this garbage and none of it is true. We have not stopped terrorist attacks here at home. How many years from one attack to another? Hmmm I wonder.

Going to Iraq was a selfish decision on the part of our not so illustrious leader. We had no reason to unseat Saddam and we knew it too. All of the reason given the American public have been hogwash.

The only time Bush was ever honest was his freudian slip in one of his interviews when asked "what has been the hardest part of your job" and he replied "connecting alqaeda to Iraq", or something similar to that and that is the extent of the honesty that came from the oval office in 8 years.

I am sorry for ya. I see the residual brainwashing is still in full effect.

None of what you mentioned matters unless they struck us. We do not have the right to preemptive strikes on whoever we feel like. It makes us no better than Saddam or Hitler for that matter.

nah, i think we haven't been attacked because of more awareness and homeland security. But America will spend over 10 trillion for this war.
Violence is down now because they have put the "terrorist" back on the payroll. Which was the biggest mistake made in this war when Bremer fired the Iraqi army and they had no income to feed their families. The American Army didn't have orders to secure anything but oil wells. They couldn't do anything about looting. They couldn't secure historical sites. There were 70 sites full of bombs and guns and the iraqi army knew exactly where they were. And then the American army began putting every Iraqi male of age in Abu Ghraib prison.

The war hasn't started yet for the control and profit of oil sales. They just want America out and I'm all for it. I never believed blood for oil was worth it.

This administration messed up soooo bad on this war. They only planned 60 days before going to war.

I recommend for everyone to watch No End in Sight
it is a docomentary with the people from Bush's administration telling about the mistakes as they were made.

as are soldiers keep dieing. still no real answer why we are in Iraq. of course we have heard so many reasons. first freedom. then for them to vote, but i ask you is one American soldiers life worth. one Iraq person. i say hell no.

Thats according to you. Have you ever talked to any of the soldiers on this site that serve in iraq? I have while they are on leave and they seem to think they are there for a reason and are glad they can help.

Very true .Bush and co. made millions of people live in a real hell on earth and got away with it : shame and disgrace .
The dead , the refugees.........etc .
Why ?. Because he has power and they have none .
