There isnt enough carbon-dioxide gasses released in 100 years of modern
society to even compare to one good volcano's worth of dust, CO2 etc.

Sure there is measuarble damage caused by pollution, but, its local, not
global. All the global warming talk will wind up being more taxes, fees,
restrictions, and hassles, and still have the same uncertain effect on
the future.

I concern about global effects, and I think making more bio-fuels is a
good idea. I also afraid of the national deficit which could leave the
country backup by 2040. Yes, the sky is falling. We should've believe
you, Chicken Little.

I wasn't really sure until these past two years... I remember winters of
intense blizzards and snow galore ....now we have 54 degree weather and
barely a drop of snow on the ground...Kind of scurry!!

Mike Montana it has more to do with than just some pollution from autos
and factories it also has to do with millions of acres of
deforestization. Global warming is something that was going to happen
with or without human intervention, but we have helped it along. There
is alot of supporting evidence to show that it has happened before. The
earth will reach a maximum poimt and will cool back down and settle into
another iceage. I have seen reports on this with supporting
documentation. It's natures way of cleansing.

What about the millions of acres that go up in smoke every year in the
U.S. from forest fires because the Green Nazis have all but shut down
the logging industry. When I grew up in Montana there was plenty of
logging with appropriate reforestation. At that time a big forest fire
was 5,000 acres. Now there is little logging and the last 3 summers at
least a half a million acres have burned each year. Tell me that don't
contribute to global warming, but I guess that's ok because it's natures
way.

Thanks for this forum Gina.

First observation about your question:
NO ONE involved officially in this 'climate change industry'!!! is
questionning the steady rise of temparature relative to climate models
going back 1000 years. It is accepted scientific fact that temperatures
are rising.

The question that has been a high ground of dispute, is whether the rise
in temperature is from natural causes, or man made causes.

One side, mostly the environmentalists, argues that MAN MAD ACTIVITIES
(man made CO2 emissions, locking solar rays heat around the earth
surface) are the most significant part of climate changes, and that man
should REVERSE THE TREND!

The other side, mostly petroleum compamies or petroleum funded lobbies,
argues that it is mostly natural acitivities that cause global warming,
and that man cannot do much to change anything. It is mother nature they
say!!! Chucking your gaz guzzling SUV will not change anything,
according to them. (remember they sell gaz!!!)

Who are we to beleive?

Well, I'm not sure, but what would say about the findings of of more
than 2 000 independent scientific studies that all agree?!?!?

How do I know that? Well there is this Worldwide consort of experts
from all industrial nations, US included of course, called the 'GIEC',
whose main mission is to gather, debate, compile, and report on the
findings of those 2 000 climatologists and various experts' studies and
findings.

In their 4th and most recent report relased with great world
anticipation this past February, their conclusions were unmistakable:

According to findings from all (100%) 2 000 scientific findings, there
is 90% probability that global warming of the last 50 years is caused by
man made gas emissions.

The study goes on to claim that it would reversely 90% improbable that
the melting of Ice Caps is of natural causes.

It goes on and on after that with more details on every aspects of their
findings.

I trust the GIEC indepndent group approach and findings a bit more
credibe and serious than the press releases of 'petroleum funded'
lobbyists.

If you're interested in all the facts from the report, here is the link:

So, for the short answer to question:

IS THERE ANY SUCH THING AS GLOBAL WARMING ???
(... and should we urgently take concrete and radical action to at least
stop from making it worse...)

YOU BET'YA !!!

VoileAzur.
(love some of the questions you raise!!!)

Gardenforge, you are right on about the 'green nazis' sometimes
preventing sensible logging - but i don't think thats just a problem
with the 'green nazis' thats a problem with the way decisions get made
in this country. i'd really like to see sensible logging laws, but
there's no lobby for that, just two opposing lobbies for equally
senseless logging laws, so people line up behind one absurd postion or
the other. i think its the same thing with gun laws. you see it with
abortion also. you see it in the debate on iraq. most of us want
something sensible, but find ourselves allying with extremist just to
ally with someone and have our voice heard.

Tell me you don't believe we can trust the logging industry lobby to
push for sensible laws?
