Just out........ (CNN) -- The U.S. should stop arresting responsible marijuana users, Rep. Barney Frank said Wednesday, announcing a proposal to end federal penalties for Americans carrying fewer than 100 grams, almost a quarter-pound, of the substance.

It will always be federally illegal, don't get your hopes up. However many states have made it legal by state law, doesn't mean you can't be charged federally...just less likely to get charged. That and a federal charge tends to cost more.

Seein first hand how it helped my Mom during chemotherapy, I'm all for having it legalized for medicinal use. She tried every available legal prescription drug she could to help cope with the nausea and the lack of appetite but nothing worked until her brother sat down with her and had her smoke a joint.
