Yesterday when I was just about to drive out of the grocery store parking lot, this woman with three kids in the car, drove up to me and started telling me some story how she had lost her job and they hadn't eaten in two days. I told her I was sorry, but I didn't have any cash (which I didn't). She said she didn't want any cash, she was just wondering if I would go into the market and get some food. I told her no.

If she is driving a car she may be ok but who can tell. It was a strange thing for her to but sometimes deperation can do that!!

ouch, this sucks!!! I wouldn't have denied them food, cash yes but food no sorry just my opinion

If I had it to spare, I would have gotten her some food. I WILL buy food for anyone, rather than give them cash... ditto!!! anytime... especially with kids in the car... i'd sleep better knowing they ate. how much is a loaf of bread and some PB&J?????

I'd give her the number/address of the local food pantry...thats what its there for! Plus I would be able to help her much...but I do donate to the food pantry when i can.

Like why is she wasting gas money driving around looking for food - why not go to the food shelter. And what if when I went into the store, someone vandalized or stole my vehicle?

Sorry, I'd have bought them some food. No cash. I'm with the others on this one. Especially if she had young kids with her. Might have been a scam , but what would it hurt just in case it was for real ???

Sometimes though, you have to go with your gut instincts...if it felt wrong, then you were right to say no and just leave.

Would of bought food, probably would of made it a larger project and see who else could help buying them food...could get a good three or four carts full of food for them.
