Why? Women should be free to express themselves in any way they see fit. You don't have to like it, no one does but as long as someone is happy with themselves, that's all that matters. As for how we explain it to our kids, it's very simple. We say we got an "X" tattoo for "X" reason, whatever it may be. Most tats are symbolic of something so it should be easily explainable.

And, FYI, just because a woman has a tattoo, doesn't matter where, it does NOT make her a "tramp." I have none and find that statement patently offensive.

I am not here to put woman down for getting tats and stopping them from doing as they please! Iwas just curious as to why this particular type of tat and what it has come to be known as. I'm not calling any woman a "tramp" but, if you knowingly place a "known" label on yourself as one. I was just trying to find out why would you?

You just did label women with lower back tattoos as tramps. If I wear a low-cut shirt, does that make me a tramp? What if I have big hair and wear lots of makeup? Or how about if I wear no makeup, dress like a nun, no tattoos but have sex with every living creature that crosses my path? These things only make me a "tramp" if I choose to believe that about myself. By perpetuating the label, you perpetuate the stereotype and that is never a good thing.

Why must we label ourselves at all? All it does is stereotype people and most stereotypes are wrong.

its up to the person that gets it to decide what they want. why should anyone else tell them what to do with their body. they want it, let them have it. i personally think that tattoos on a woman are hot. and that means they can take some pain to get what they want. j m o

I agree that it is their body and they are fre to do what they want but, I feel that there is some things you really DO NOT Want to advertise...lol

Tatoos used to be a strictly male domain at least in the u.s. this was "back in the day". And women who had tatoos were thought to be trampy. Who ever came up with this lable for this reason should be shot. Anyone with the least bit of intelligence realizes that it isn't anything you may or may not have on your body that makes anyone male or female alike "trampy". It is your behavior that reflects on your personality and life style traits. Not the fact you like body art~

No tattoos here. But I have seen several "stamps", some nice and some not so nice. To each their own. happy Not for me to judge.

While I don't mind a woman with tatts (especially if there is some sort of tribal or spiritual influence to them), tramp stamps (also known as "ho-tags" or "butt-antlers") are simply nasty. They're loud, ostentatious, and just plain garrish. Even worse is that they have to get them in the same part of the body too- right above the butt- which akin to painting a Mercedes Benz fluroscent green.

The best tatts are the ones that are hidden from pain view, and are tasteful in design. There's nothing cooler than seeing a lady disrobe in front of you, only to find she had tattoos that you never knew about.

I am talking about the tats that are placed across the lower back. The general tag to that area is it is called a tramp stamp... I am not against tats... I was just questioning this particular type. and why?

Why does it bother you so much?
