received in an email, not sure how much is truth, stretched out truth, lies, and/or far fetched lies.

Does education and achievement matter?

With America facing historic debt, multiple war fronts, stumbling health care, a weakened dollar, all-time high prison population, skyrocketing Federal spending, mortgage crises, bank foreclosures, etc. etc., this is an unusually critical election year.

Let's look at the educational background of the candidates and see what they bring to the job:

Obama:
Occidental College - Two years.
Columbia University - B.A. political science with a specialization in international relations.
Harvard - Juris Doctor (J.D.) Magna Cum Laude

&

Biden:
University of Delaware - B.A. in history and B.A. in political science.
Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor (J.D.)

vs.

McCain:
United States Naval Academy - Class rank 894 out of 899 (meaning that, like George Bush, McCain was at the bottom of his class)

&

Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester
North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study
University of Idaho - 2 semesters - journalism
Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester
University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in journalism

Now, which team are you going to hire to lead the most influential nation in the world?

Education is important to a large extent, however, it is no match for just plain common sense and an ability to see what's right in front of your face, qualities I don't think either candidate or their running mates have. Pity.

I can attest to that. When you see someone with a Masters in Business Administration who can't even operate a 10-key calculator... laugh

Education is important. My child's education is a priority to me.

Thanks, Fran. It was interesting to see their education credentials.

Actually made me wonder if they even test them before they hand them their degrees...

I agree with you wholeheartedly - both candidates are busy trash talking each other which makes them all look rather childish and foolish in my eyes. jmo

Well the general rule of thumb is when you can't stand on the issues, slam your opponent. Since both sides are so busy slamming each other instead of talking about their positions on issues, I can only assume they both are pretty weak.

And FWIW, I said months ago I'm pretty sure no matter who wins, we're pretty much screwed either way.

Yeah, it's going to take years to clean up Bush's mess.
Our economy is going down the toilet and there are wars going on. It's going to take years....

Hmmmmm... a better question may have been.....HAS an education helped....so far?

One must really look at the education of the previous leaders and REALLY question what is relevant.

Education is critical to this country's future... Unless of course we want to keep electing republicans. Then it isn't.
