Topic: WTH happened??? | |
---|---|
I have been neglecting to stay informed of the political race as well as other areas of the news because of working too much. I get glimpses of everything sometimes when I check my email, cause of the headlines on Yahoo.
Well today, my brother tells me that if the government doesn't fix the financial problems we have by tonight, tomorrow the stock market could crash. I did not realize that we were in such a poor state!! What happened? He also told me, that their are people out there that are trying to convince others that if you do certain things like wear the opponents name on your clothing, that you lose your right to vote, playing on people's ignorance. He mentioned other things too, and I also read that they are trying to pass an amendment stating that you have to have a photo ID otherwise you can not vote. What about the people who don't have one? And to get one, you have to have a number of documents, which some people just don't have access to. So what happened? Somebody please fill me in and tell me what I missed. |

First of all, no one can wear a piece of political anything, clothes, buttons, stickers within 100 feet of a polling place. That's probably what he was saying.

a lot of hysterical freaking out is all
that is all pretty much a bunch of bs to scare people and I also read that they are trying to pass an amendment stating that you have to have a photo ID otherwise you can not vote
do you have any idea how HARD it is to pass an amendment to the constitution? it takes years of arguing and each state has to vote on it |

cause there is no electioneering allowed near a polling place
it's designed to prevent intimidation |

cause there is no electioneering allowed near a polling place it's designed to prevent intimidation Okay, I think I understand now. I guess that's a good thing in a way, considering how some people get a little heated when trying to convince others why they should vote for their candidate. But it's pretty sad that it has gotten to this though. ![]() |

we are in the midst of a credit fraud real-estate
scandal much like the S&L bailout from the late 80's early 90's. big investment firms, banks, insurance companies, are failing because of bad high risk mortgage investments. they do not have the cash to cover all their commitments so there is no money to lend to various enterprises who need working capital. the US govt has had to step in and promise a bailout again. it will require an increase of 10% in the national debt in the short term although we will undoubtedly recoup much of it - maybe even profit in the long term. there are some excellent summary articles about it... see some of the related threads in this forum here: http://mingle2.com/topic/show/168458 |
