I love Monday dates. The restaurants are not as busy, so you feel free to take your time talking and dining. When it's a new guy, there is less chance of it turning into a late night or having to make that awkward turn down for a sleep over request. It's so much more casual in general to me.

Thursdays in these parts are singles' mingling night. I agree that Monday is a good time, for the reasons you cite. I don't like first dates especially on Friday and Saturday nights if it is for a movie or dinner at a restaurant as it is crowded, there's usually a wait, wailing kids, etc.
