I'd say a good conversation that keeps you laughing/smiling the whole time!

It's a tough question for me. I'm not really sure what a good date would be like.

An early dinner, at a quiet restaraunt, where you could hear each other talk and then maybe a walk.

Well new to dating again and finding only dinners are about the worst for a first date.
Getting to know someone while locked into a chair and other people around = bad.
Tried out bowling ( don't laugh ) on my last date and was great... not a great bowler but gave us something to laugh about. More seperation from other people to get to know each other. In the end yes we went to dinner lol.. but starting off with bowling seemed to work better for me.

The Zoo, a museum, science center... These places offer tons of small distractions that let conversations develope and flow...

I think a couple of drinks always work to loosen everyone up, from there I'm a big fun of something active, like bowling. You can talk more than at a movie and its more creative than dinner or coffee.

If its a first date, keep it casual. Go to a pub on a quiet night and shoot some pool or throw some darts. That way you can get a chance to get to know each other in a relaxed environment.
