laugh Only an out of touch rich person would think that a waiter makes more than a quarter million a year!laughSo I guess we know who wrote this!laugh

only an out of touch person wouldn't realize that 80% of small businesses make much more than a quarter million dollars annually, and so yes the story does apply because many small businesses are restaurants. you guys are idiots for believing this is only going to touch the wealthy. this tax hike will touch all of us. prices will raise in every market because business owners everywhere will be affected by this.

i think the moral of the story is this: i pay taxes not because i think it's the patriotic thing to do (thanks anyway joe biden). i pay so that i remain a law abiding citizen and i don't want to suffer tghe consequences of not paying. IF I CHOOSE TO GIVE TO THOSE LESS FORTUNATE IT SHOULD BE MY CHOICE!!!!! I DO NOT WORK HARD TO PAY THE BILLS FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T!!!!

Tsk. Tsk. It's not nice to call the people on here idiots.

why, though, should the wealthy be punished for working hard and being successful?

i hardly think it's fair that they should be forced to subsidize the poor.

They are rich because of us, we use their services, buy their goods,we provide the infrastructure for that. "No man is an island" That is what people are missing. They are free to go be rich in another country, but if they want to do business here then they need to help to support it. Instead of bleeding us dry like leeches.

businesses DO pay taxes. rich folk DO pay taxes. (in fact, aren't the rich paying twice??) i'm not saying that they should be exempt; neither should they be overtaxed, but rather it should be proportionate.

i understand the concept of what you're saying and perhaps if i lived in a country or, more specifically, a city where i didn't see massive amount of tax dollars being spent on a huge amount of people who are doing absolutely nothing to contribute to society, yet are reaping the benefits, even more so than a hard-working, tax-paying, middle class average citizen, i'd be inclined to agree with you.

in fact, speaking of bleeding, what i see here in my own city, is a bunch of bleeding hearts giving, giving, giving, while people are trying to make an honest living and, at the same time, are watching that money go down the tubes.

be careful what your country turns into. i've long admired (and been jealous) of what america stands (stood) for.

here we have tax dollars being spent on providing drug users with clean needles, convicts with cigarettes. i should support that? how come?

sure, it's a humane idea to help out those who are less fortunate than we are. we provide blankets for the homeless in the cold winters. nice and caring, aren't we? then, the homeless are too lazy to carry around that blanket in the day as they are begging in the streets, so they them dump them in the garbage and go and get a new one again that evening. and i'm paying for that?? no thank you.

like i said, the concept is a good one, and it may work in the short-term, but there are a lot of lazy and selfish people out there, wanting something for nothing, and that is what'll ruin it, especially when the politicians canvass for their votes, and offer them more.

Wealthy punished? Don't we already have that?
Take a look at the CURRENT IRS Tax Tables.
They are PROGRESSIVE Tax Tables.
The more you make, the higher percentage you pay.

It's been like that for a very long time but the Republicans seem to think this is some new idea for socialist "redistribution of wealth" that Obama has come up with.

Hogwash!

This is just new language for the old republican scare tactics.

Once upon a time they said tax and spend liberal.

I am sure someone in the RNC decided they'd worn the phrase out. That it didn't really maximize the fear factor. So they got some new verbiage.

Never mind the fact, and yes it is a fact, that the current republican administration has spent like there is no tomorrow, enlarge the size of government, increased our national debt to an obscene size and nationalized private institutions.

So tell me who's a socialist?

Who redistributed your tax dollars to the investment banks? Oh and don't give me that crap about this business being the fault of fannie, freddie and poor people who couldn't pay. They weren't the ones that constructed these financial devices that were not ever backed by real assets, they didn't hedge bets or pay obscene bonuses for failure. Those are the people that caused this crisis and your republican president is rewarding him.

What are people thinking?

I guess it's better to be in business with communists and owe an obscene debt to China than it is to pay taxes and pay our own debt.

So, buy the same old scare lines if you want.

Who DID distribute this bailout money... would Paulson have been able to do this without Barney Franks... duh...

Democratic Majority... How many of them voted FOR it...

FMae and FMac... Duh... How many times did Republicans attempt to DO something about them... How many times where they stopped by the Democrats...

I am not a member of EITHER party but lets get real with where and why this has gone down the way it has...

Ya cain't even blame it on wall street... they were 'hog tied' when it came to the majority of these 'bad debts' cause to say no got you put out of the loop... Ask any real business person if they would have taken on ANY of that debt without the gun of 'political activisium' pointing at them...

In no way is this racial either... A lot of the problems were caused when people that should have been looking out for their own (people that HAD made it in business) screwed their own (people that believed they were finally getting that dream) for a bigger slice of the pie...

Bull pucky and dino poo...

Fact - 10 MILLION Seniors are RETIRED with a FIXED income that is at or above the 'rich nich'... They will now see less of the money they put aside for that retirement...

Fact - Small business owners that have business income from sole proprietorships, farm proprietorships, partnerships, S corporations, and the like.. these types of business are all taxed at the owners' INDIVIDUAL INCOME TAX RATES( This is the way business operates).
DO THE MATH... This equates to 34 MILLION business that will be subject to having their incomes (Personal and business incomes in one basket) REDISTRIBUTED... worse is that they will then have to pass this loss on to the economy by LAYING OFF workers because THEY CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY THEM AND STILL SURVIVE. Can you see the sprial down to depression as it crashes.

Want some more facts?

DO THE MATH PEOPLE... None of this adds up... I got the numbers off the Obama web site and then plugged them into the information that I get from the business sector, the government and such sources... Get informed before you jump into the next four years thinking what is said is what is REAL.

So Sarah continues to twist words to create fear.

More distortions and quotes out of context from the McCain Palin campaign...

At two rallies in Western Pennsylvania last night, Palin referenced at the top of her remarks a 2001 public radio interview with Obama that surfaced this week, in which Obama discussed the role of the courts in the civil rights movement.

"There he was talking about the need for quote 'redistributive change,'" Palin said on the campus of Shippensburg University Tuesday night. “Sen. Obama said that he regretted that the Supreme Court hadn't been more radical. And he described the Court's refusal to take up the issues of redistribution of wealth as a tragedy. And he said he also regretted that the Supreme Court didn't break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers there in the Constitution”

Obama had in fact argued the opposite in the 2001 interview, saying that the civil rights movement had become too focused on making change through the judicial system, rather than from the ground up through community organizations.

Referencing the interview, Palin said, "So you have to ask, is this a suggestion that's he’d want to re-write the founding document of our great nation to accomplish his goals. And what does that say about his ideas on future Supreme Court justices?"

"Let me remind Barack Obama of something else. When judges don’t confiscate your property and your hard-earned -- all of your hard-earned money and then re-distribute that, he may call that a tragedy. But I call it fairness and adherence to our U.S. Constitution," Palin added later in her remarks.

Obama has not advocated re-writing the Constitution. Palin has though...she wants to amend it to okay discrimination against gays and to remove a woman's right to privacy.

All i can say, is look at this bailout. Pay close attention. This bill will produce hyper inflation. Somewhere between 10 and 15% supposedly.

Supporters of this bill = Obama, McCain, Clinton, 2/3 of dems and about 3/5 of repubs...
