Topic: Darning........

I stopped at the fabric store and picked up darning needles and number 8 perle cotton. I'm going to learn how to darn my socks. At 8.00$ a pair, I can't run out and replace them every time I get a hole now and they are too good to throw away. Gotta save money somewhere.

i'll send you some of mine they only cost 7 dollars for 3 pair. you can darn the darn holes in them

Go figure....I am the only guy I know except for my Dad who knows how to load a bobbin and string a sewing machine. (Don't let the guys know.....they will take away my MAN card) As a friend of mine used to say, a sewing machine IS a power tool. You CAN hurt yourself on one. A project isn't finished unless you bleed on it.

Yeah, because that was back when I was in a job making a lot of money. Now I make an a low/average wage. So I have to make them last. And anyway, I HATE having to wear socks, so I had to spend money on ones I actually liked.

I hate darned socks...but good luck with that! I used to do it, and it's not hard :) krupa...if you can sew, that's cool! Real men can do all kinds of things the "man card" says aren't possible :) sewing, eating quiche, wearing pink shirts...the list goes on!

my mom used a wooden nob thing you stretch the socks over it and use thread it works good.she taught me how to make anything on a sewing machine. got to love the moms that went through what we are starting to go through now. she taught me well and i listen to what she said.
