As for my opinion I'm a strong NO ON PROP 8! I feel the way that religion is trying to put there words in with law is wrong. Religion can have an opinion but we are separated by church and state for a reason.
Just as Latinos/Asians/African Americans are considered the "minority" but if you look at this country what people call "minorities" are the ones who practically own this country!! Now they put gays and lesbians in the same group? To discriminate against people who are different? When all they want is the same right as straight people do.
I'm so disapointed in California I really thought that we as one of the states with the most races would understand the nature that this bill has done to people whos only wish is to be treated equal.
*Picture this: A woman dying in the hospital and the nurse won’t let her partner see her because she’s not a spouse or relative. And her family disowned her because she lives that lifestyle. That woman now dies with no loved ones around. Is that fair?

What was your reaction or opinion to the results?
(please remember this is just a opinion... dont try and attack anyones post)

who has the right to say who you can love and marry...Let me say this I married a guy who everyone told me not to,but did i listen God no and I did it anyway...It did not work out after many years but no one and I mean no one has the right to tell me thats its wrong...

If my children come home and tell me they are marrying someone of the same sex I will be happy that they have found someone who makes them happy and complete and god forbid if something were to happen and there was no one to make decisions for their health I would be comforted to know the person they love, cherish and respect is there to be by their side and who am i to say anything??????

I believe the error within the gay rights movement was the insistance on the term "marriage"...I think that working towards having civil unions recognized with the same benefits as opposite sex relationships would have brought about more support...

it was a bad political strategy and thus the backlash...

You're contradicting yourself. You say they can do what they want, but they should keep it in the closet.

So, what you really mean is that you don't want them to do what you don't want to see. Not that you're fine with them doing what they want.

who has the right to say who you can love and marry

That is a good question, and their is only one answer:

RELIGION

By definition, marriage is a contract between two people under god (whomever god may be). A civil union is not a marriage. It is a contract between two people under government. Two very seperate issues that have been mixed in together until noone remembers that they are not the same.

Then the same thing goes for you, do not go expressing your love of someone anywhere other than in your bedroom.

i think men usually have more of a problem with this subject cuz they r uncomfortable with 2 men kissing... but my argument to them is "so if 2 women were kissing it would be alright?!" and of course every straight mans answer "well yea duh! of course!" y is that?! y would u want to put a double standard on urself when u say that?

Sorry hun, I am as "straight" as they come (no puns intended here folks, lol), and I don't like to watch two men kiss, OR two women kiss. It isnt that they make me feel anything, its exactly the opposite. It does nothing for me to see either side of it.

as far as I am concerned, it is good to see two people kissing, no matter what their genders are, as it shows love and respsect for one another.
