what i can't understand is how does a guy know that the women go for the jerks,is it cause women say they seem to pick jerks or is it that the man is calling other guys jerks cause they cant get the woman.?

It's not the jerk they get interested in. It's the Alpha male, the leader, the one with abilities, the one that seems to have good genes etc...

Natural selection. If you are not the alpha male, then you are not the first choice.
yeah well um i wasnt really going there but ok.

Sorry, I didn't try to answer you, I tried to continue your point.
its all good man i see your point it is true though what you typed i cant disagree with it at alldrinker drinker drinker

Whoa......alpha male....natural selection?

Are we really a pack of wolves?

First off, there could be hidden genetic diseases that might occur in the offspring. This single statement alone shows just how much your abstract mind could fail you....miserably. Selection of a mate for greater life prospects is a shot in the dark. Get with the person because you like to be around them, not because your psyche has been entirely corrupted by drivel such as this alpha male "look at my inability to conceptualize" theory.

It's a well established fact that human beings have natural instincts, and these instincts are exactly the same as any other mammal.

When it comes to mating:

Find suitable partner,
Create offspings,
protect the survival of own genes.

We are not wolves, but we have the same instincts as wolves.

 And for the life of me i cant figure out why. Now in no way should the following be misconstrued as conceeded, Im just awhere of how I behave in a relationship. I open doors, get flowers, compliment, pamper, massage, sing,..whatever goofy adam sandler gesture that comes up to make a girl smile. I have a good fashion sense, i think im good looking enough. i feel as if im the package that woman talk **** about desiring but when they have it they flush it away quicker than it started, and of course the jerk gets the girl. for someone reason I get along with older woman better, i guess theyve been screwed over enough so now they appreciate little gestures....idk i know the peanut gallerys gonna chime in but if anyone can offer opinions that would be great!waving

Sometimes it is good to finish last ... bigsmile

The last to kiss her goodnight ...
The last to hold her ...
The last love she will embrace ...

...The last doesn't sound so bad ...

Other terms/explanations for Alpha Male....

Men with sacs, descended ones.
Men who don't call themselves nice, or whine.
Men who live their lives honorably.
Men who make decisions.
Men who ACT....
Men who listen, are self aware, and grow.

And what comes to the hidden genetic diseases...
Estimated 6% of all born babies have genetic diseases, and 95% are born in developing countries.

Possible hidden genetic diseases have little value because they happen so rarely. Since your genes show from your outer appearence, there is little possibility that two healthy and good-looking people have ill and deformed child.

men who howl at the moon

men who pee on your tires

problem is that a lot of men see themselves as alpha males when they are really just a-holes

This whole instincts thing is highly debatable.

You're saying our highly complex, relatively much more powerful minds get bypassed outright by some instinctual urge to protect our genes? We are just a little bit more dynamic than that.

Oh Robin, I could NOT agree more. The issue is, men who define and/or label themselves in many ways... they are identifying themselves as assholes. For me? It's a good indicator to run far, far away. It's helpful.

Not too mention environmental issues to bring about cause, stds that went undetected, and a whole range of possible ill outcomes that could happen, but hey, you're right, the alpha male is just about fool proof.

Are you being concrete on purpose? Arguing just to be dissident?

Fact is, women are not attracted to whiners or doormats. Get over it. Women don't like shy guys, overall. They want assertive, self confident men. men who don't label themselves and complain about why all women have done them wrong.

It JUST IS!

Granted that we HAVE instincts; I would just prefer to think we're not all SLAVES to them.

I, for one, have never had any desire whatsoever to produce "offsprings."

Same here. If we do have such instincts, they are only for our infantile state which will be long gone lost.

This is basic, but I'd still like to clarify.
We are humans. Alpha male in human society has a lot different meaning than in other mammal groups.

In example:
You are really good at what you do,
You are good-looking,
You show extrordinary social skills,
You have SELF-CONFIDENCE THAT SHOWS(ie. Leader),
You are intelligent,
etc...

If you have only one of these, then the chances are that you are not the alpha male(excluding the leader-position).

When you meet someone for the first time, it helps to be the alpha male of only that given situation to gain her affection. You don't need to be the president, or anything like that, just the guy that get attention when he asks it, gets laughter for his jokes, controls the situation and is interesting.

What else you would use as criteria for choosing you partner then your instinct?

No. Human instincts are not debatable.

And please read what I write. Instincts are part of human behaviour. They do no "fight" with our "mind". They are part of it.

It's called intuition, and that's debatable as well. There a few zillion better ways to select a mate than intuition.

There seems to be a misunderstanding between us.
How exactly do you define instinct?

Edit.
And I agree with you. There are many better ways to choose a love-of-a-lifetime.
We just don't use them.

First of all, I really think this statement is what I would call "being concrete".

I really don't see why any so called "man" would go against their psyche and cater to exactly what only a particular woman wants. What does he get out of it? That to me would be him being really nice--or stupid. These guys that you label this and that all have their own ways in life, their own psyches to keep balanced, and many times are much much more than these labels. Now, if every woman had done me wrong, I wouldn't stop and take a look around and express what I have to say about it? Don't you think there might be some needs not being met out there due to the rampancy of threads like this? Needs was the key word. Needs.
