That is a serious consideration. I like snow more than ice. But, love the beach!

Things out here in las vegas seem to be just fine. The casinos aren't going anywhere anytime soon and they're still building new stores and huge residential areas.

Midwest economy is usually better than the coasts.
cost of living is lower also.
Many military retire to this area, due to reasonable housing & good quality of life.
Google & Yahoo have complex's going up in this area.

My son is 22 and applied for 20 jobs in one week no call and i thought it was my age? I have pt time job need full time is the economy good any where? if so let me know?

I'm in the same boat, buttons. Your son need to widen his search for jobs, as wide as it goes. I'm already looking at jobs in Ireland and UK.

Don't get scared, this world today is just got a lot smaller. I got relatives living in UK, Germany, France, Hungary, and friends In Ireland, trying to work something out..

This out of the Sunday paper here in Wyoming.

"The state gained 9,500 jobs, or 3.2 percent, from October 2007 to October 2008, according to the Wyoming Department of Employment.

The nation's employment fell by 1.2 million jobs, or roughly 1 percent, from October 2007 to October 2008, according to the Wyoming Department of Employment.

My comment:

With the mining and oil industry there seems to be plenty of work out here if a person can stand the cold winters. Housing in some places can be tough to find.

I don't think the economy is booming anywhere in the USA right now Buttons. Best of luck to you.

Whatever you do, don't go to California-

The unemployment rate out here is something like 8.something percent with an incredibly high cost-of-living. Housing here is still laughably over-priced, gasoline just cracked two-bucks-a-gallon, and the traffic is traditionally bad here.

And THEN you have to deal with what are known as "Angelinos", which is frustrating enough.

I'm not sure what Florida's Unemployment rate is, but I believe it's double digits. And it is climbing. Economy is very bad here.
