Okay this is going to bug me now because of the whole music/stereotype thread.

What do YOU people see yourself as and why? Would being mistaken fo anything else get you upset? Why?

I mainly hang out with what most people LABLE as "goth" but not sure thats what it really is; but I get REALLY pissed when I get accused of being "emo".

I have no idea what people label me as but I can guarentee no one has a label for my entire clique that I chill with. There are too many different types of people within our clique from music differences to clothing styles to long hair or short hair, military haircuts, to business uniforms to construction uniforms.. I mean everyone is different within my circle of friends. I don't think any of us dress alike at all.

This isn't just guys either, it goes with girls as well. We have friends who are dating wearing hollister and abercrombie mixed with our friends that are girls who wear iron maiden tees and jeans... From tons of makeup like barbie to none and the ever so grunge scene lives on... From mohawks to crew cuts it's just the way we're. We're people indulged in friendship not through mutual musical interests, and certainly not through work interests but for the mere simple fact that as a society of people we have found kindred who accept us for who we're and look at us as equals until someone does wrong. It could be many different things such as stealing, or taking away someone's girl or guy. It happens a lot and we always recruit more people in the end or at least that's the way Jersey was. Now I live in Humble and I haven't made friends outside of my house yet.... Someday....

I see myself as a person, I don't even have a clear name. My friends refer to me as chuck, charlie, chaz, chuckles, and charles. Tehy all take in a name and whatever fits for them is fine with me.

I'd love to see people mistake me for something I'm not like a thug, that'd be hilarious.

I've been called a "skinhead" and things like that because I'm white and I shave my head. I laugh it off and say "if you only knew" because a "skinhead" or "Nazi" I am not.

If you let someone else's perception of you get you down... think about it.

Guy: EMO GIRL!!!!
Girl: I'm not "emo!" I'm "Goth!"

Does it really matter? The "emo" scene borrowed heavily from the grunge and goth genres. It's easy to be mistaken.

But if you don't want to be labeled, then change your look or simply brush it off like a piece of lint.

I simply just don't care what people label me.

Labels are for people who don't know who they are.

Random, silly and crazy are usually what I get called the most. XD

Emotional hardcore isn't compared to grunge at all. As for goth definately not. There are no sounds whatsoever prevalent in emotional hardcore that are found anywhere in that music category. You don't compare alternative rock to hardcore. The bands might play at the same shows but you don't compare those bands to eachother. Not at all. Nirvana was probably the most famous grunge act ever how do you compare them with Saetia probably the biggest name in emotional hardcore. They're not related at all.. Grunge sings for starters, emotional hardcore doesn't sing. Grunge plays powerchords.. There aren't really many power chords to be distinguished at all in emotional hardcore. Please don't try to analyze a music sound you don't know anything about.

I was talking about the look. I should have clarified.

As far as the music aspect is concerned, I don't even bother with "emo." From everything I've seen of it, it's a "sound" that's been put through a cookie cutter, much like the "punk" sound in the US as opposed to the true punk rock music from the UK. All the "emo" stuff out there that I've heard is a bunch of no talent hacks who the records company fell in love with for some reason beyond my comprehension.

They can scream. So can Twisted Sister, Motley Crue, and Cinderella. But those bands could actually play their instruments.

Actually no record company has ever taken a full bred emotional hardcore act on with them. The closest example would be hot cross *ex saetia, ex you and I* but that's not even a major label. The closest you get is Thursday signing with Island records but that stopped and then their lead singer formed United Nations which is in fact a true act done with his whacky melody singing voice which just adds his quirk on the scene. Thursday also invited Envy a japanese emotional hardcore act to an ep with them just recently after the events with island. They're now on Epitaph. Still though, Thursday doesn't encompass enough of the song structure to truly be just labelled emotional hardcore. They use a lot of rock influences as of late.

How does a kid wearing torn jeans and a flannel represent a style you're talking about? That's definately the biggest style within the scene and chucks for shoes. So imagine ripped jeans, flannel shirt, and chucks. I'd say out of 50 people at the show about 20 of them are dressed like that.

The bands you listed sing. Emotional hardcore doesn't have a singer. It's pure screaming non ****ing stop, every word is screamed or it's softly spoken to a barely recognizable whisper.

It doesn't get attention because it's too loud, you can't hear the screamer live *unless you listen to the blood brothers which is like the ultimate pose band*. It's chaotic noise sped up really fast sounding like a whirlwind of just bashing symbols and a screamer to boot that can't get above the noise being made on record or live. Live only makes it worse.

I'd say out of the 100 shows I've been to, I've maybe seen 3 bands or so look at the crowd, everything is with their backs toward you 90% of the time. You don't market a band that doesn't face the observers.

Almost all of the music is only found on vinyl, you'd be lucky to get some cds. They do exist just few and far between and will not be sold at your local music chain store. They aren't highly prized items.

No straight up emotional hardcore act has ever made a difference in the music scene but for some reason the lead singer of Thursday with the creation of United Nations actually had our us gov't go to their facebook page and had it removed.

As for the look. Ok Kurt Cobain wore flannel you got me there and those ripped jeans dammit there too and he probably wore chucks as well...

Well, I guess I'd be labeled as a "shut in" or "nerd" or something of the sort XD. My friends would probably be labeled "eccentric" .

Well, I'm half islander/half white who spent most of my life outside of Tacoma, I'm an Army Brat, I practice brazilian jiu-jitsu, I was kind of a theatre nerd in high school, I occasionally play midnight football, I play D&D, and i mostly listen to hip hop and RnB.

Funny huh? What clique do you think I belong in?
