SALEM, Ore. (AP) -- Salem police arrested a 19-year-old woman accused of killing her 2-month-old son.

Lt. Steve Birr said a caller to 9-1-1 reported Friday afternoon that the boy named Ian Noe was unconscious. When medics arrived minutes later, they discovered the boy was dead.

Carrie E. Noe was booked into the Marion County Jail on a charge of murder, Birr said.

An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday morning, and investigators are not releasing the suspected cause of death until it's completed.

Birr said Noe is married, but the father was away at the time of the incident. He said there is no history of the child welfare system being involved with the family.

"It's tragic," Birr said. "It's tragic that a 2-month-old boy is dead and it's tragic that a 19-year-old woman has a life that will never be the same."

I thought you were innocent till proven guilty?
Did the mother flat out state she murdered his son?
Or just because she is main suspect that are just holding her?

grumble Terrible, terrible

You can't book a suspect. Only someone who is actually under arrest. Therefore there had to be something there to give them cause to arrest her on charges of murder or manslaughter.

Either evidence or her statement.

She should have her ovaries removed. Hell every woman who harms a child should. They should NOT be able to have any more children.

A former classmate of my exhusband reported her infant son kidnapped from a busy store.

Within days it became obvious that the child had not been kidnapped.

Seems she was suffering from awful postpartum depression and had left her small town home, driven the a larger nearby city and dropped the infant who was only a few months old into a cold swiftly flowing river.

If I recall correctly she did not go to trial but was hospitalized. Her husband, wrought by grief over his lost child and by guilt over not noticing the state his wife was in was never the same.

The last I knew he stood by her and after some time she was released from the hospital.

I am not going to make a judgment on this but I will say that people ought to take notice. New parents need support. If you think there's a problem intervene. Yes you might ruffle a feather but better to offer help and perhaps save a life.

Unfortunately, from what I understand of it, it does get worse with each pregnancy.

People who have sever cases of it with their first pregnancy should really consider not having more kids.

Sure you can medicate it, but if it gets worse each time, how medicated does the individual end up each additional time?
