This is a question that rocks the very foundations of religion.
My short answer is NO. There is no such thing as heaven either.
This life is both heaven and hell!

The concept of a reward/punishment in the afterlife is something many false religions use to control the thinking of their faithful.

If God being all things is Good and Evil it does not make sense to me for people living Evil lives to be punished in the afterlife for making a life path choice as given by any higher power.

Let the thoughts flow!

The concept of eternal damnation was invented by, or at least preyed upon by, the authors of the stories that were eventually cannonized into the books that today are called the "Torah, Quaran, or Holy Bible". Take your choice, they are all the same folklore distorted by different cultures.

The religious concepts spewed by these men who claimed to speak for the creator of all mankind, was that God is jealous and hateful of anyone who disbelieves that the words these men wrote actually came from God.

Clearly that's not the case. The creator of this unvierse would not have favored a single culture in the Middle East.

The idea behind the notion of eternal damnation is nothing more than a way to threaten and scare people into believing in this manmade false religion. If you refuse to accept their blaspheme then you will face eternal damanation!

What better way to intimidate people?

Does any sane person truly believe that the creator of all humanity would be as egotistical as the pigs who made up such a hateful doctrine.

And the doctrine is indeed hateful toward anyone who refuses to side with the people who claim to support that doctrine.

This is the very same doctrine that was used to torture and murder innocent women by burning alive! This was done to hundreds of thousands of women over a period of three centuries and then repeated again in Early America.

Does any sane person believe that such dispicable acts were the desire of God?

Personally I don't believe that any sane person does believe this, and I would automatically label those who do as being insane. bigsmile

So no, I don't believe in a hateful God who get's his rocks off on blood sacrifices and condemning people to eternal damnation.

Clearly the Middle Eastern vision of God is a hateful vision of a god created by men who have very little intelligence or compassion. Nor did they even begin to understand the concept of LOVE.

There is a Hell. (In my opinion) No humans will ever go there though. It's strictly angels.

It's good to see another like-minded individual out there who has a little spit-fire in them when it comes to this question, Abracadabra. I am in total agreement.

Let's also not forget that Christianity borrowed their description of Hell from Dante's "The Divine Comedy", a work of fiction. The Bible did not ever really define or explain what Hell was.

I suppose that in the interest of balance and contrast, there had to be a supreme Bad if there was a supreme Good. But frankly, I think it shows the limited capability to think outside the box. The question rolling around in my brain lately is more to do with evolution of the soul and its understanding of "truth".

I totally agree, with both Abracadabra and Lil2Curious.

The entity known to many as God is a universal being, that dwells in all things in creation.

All places of damnation are in truth, a form of punishment. It is really up to ecery individual to determine their own hell. What I mean is, the place of damnation is just our conscious' way of remembering our past guilts. And there we think we must pay for all our wrongs.

So for me, hell is real, it's just different for everybody.

And as for AndyBgood, yes hell doesn't exist in reality, it is just a state of mind.

There is no hell. It’s all made up and was used to control people. Do you believe in immortal worms? There is a passage in Mark 9:44-48 in which Yahshua Messiah spoke of worms that "dieth not". Well maybe that’s a reference to Satan as a serpent living in flames. Or maybe it referred to wicked people like me. whoa But it is THEIR worms that were being referred to.

It’s a lot of hogwash. happy

I agree. It's all a matter of perspective and mindset.

If you go with the concept of God being present in all things, then we are God. There is no separation.

Well lets see.... there's Hell Michigan.

But let me let you in on a little known secret. There is a physical place (and there may be more than one) that exists deep underground in Africa. There have been some african humans who have been there and have lived and escaped to tell about it. It is lighted and warmed by torches and fires so it is a fiery place. The entire thing is actually some kind of mining operation. The underground complex is completely lined in copper and there is a theory for the reason for that. It has to do with preventing astral intrusions by witch doctors or shaman.

Natives have gone to work in this place and most don't ever return. Some think that this place and places like it have been around for thousands of years, run by a reptilian race of aliens. Some call this "Hell" and it certainly looks the part.

The presence of a royal Draconian overlord with red skin, horns and a tail would certainly give the impression of the devil that we have today.

So yes, there could be a real place that some call "Hell" run by the evil Draconians and the snake people or reptilians.

There is a place called Hel in some country in Europe. In Norse tradition, there is the goddess Hel, of death and reincarnation.

I do know a Pagan priest who says there is a Hell, but it is temporary. Some Buddhists believe in it too. It is for people who are a threat to all life like Hitler and massacre leaders.

It's purpose is to cleanse the spirit of anger and hatred. It sounds painful.

The fire part was another tradition.

I have a link! :D

Yes, Christian religions used the images of Hell
to control their congregations through fear. Well documented.rant
