First what is the meaning of that word?

The meaning of the word existence

What do we mean by existence? The very definition for existence is that a thing is said to exist if it relates in some way to some other thing. That is, things exist in relation to each other. For us, that means that something is part of our system ('The known world'). God is defined to be infinite, in which case it is not possible for there to be anything other than god because "infinite" is all-inclusive. But if there is nothing other than god then either god cannot be said to exist for the reason just explained, or god is the known world, in which case, by definition, god is not a god.

Simple answer. No.

The complex answer isn't definitive and still has yet be solved by countless debates and wars. Be happy, love and help those you can, forgive where possible and you have nothing to worry about. Remember, a building, book, or someone's words will not give you the ultimate answer. That requires a lot of introspection and thought.

Just look inside yourself and eventually you'll figure it out.

i think its cool you think about god.understanding the god is so much simpler .he is far to large than to make himself such a mystery or word equation.however it does take a certain amount of faith.the bible says.and i do understand some people do not believe the bible and thats thier right.but it does say,"blessed is the generation that believes and yet have not seen"

How can I think about God when the term "God" has not adequately been defined?

How can I think about the existence of something that is not known or defined?

And why do you refer to God as HE?

Before one can think of God one has to define that, and then define what they mean by "existence."

I am thinking about the word GOD and the word EXISTENCE and what they mean.

Define God and define existence and I will see if I can think about that.

God is a concept that bigots and muderers have historically used as an excuse for their bigotry and murder.

"God told them to do it!"

Yeah right. ohwell

If there was a conscious creator of this universe we can all hope that it wasn't a sick demented bigot who commands people to murder others in his name.

But I agree with you Jeanniebean. If the universe is not part of God then it's external to God, and therefore God cannot be infinite becasue something would need to exist outside of God.

So that's an oxymoron right there.

If there is a spiritual essence to the universe then it necessarily must be omniscient, and if it's omniscient, then we're it.

There's just no other conclusion that can be had.

The idea that we are the pets of an angry jealous external God who casts loving people into a place of eternal damnation whilst only embracing those who accept a life of biogtry is truly an insane idea.

Such a demon would hardly be divine. It would be nothing more than an unchecked Hitler who has no moral values whatsoever.

Clearly, either we are God, or there is no God. Truly, Pantheism or Atheism are the only genuine choices available.

Unless of course we allow that God is a demon and we are some sort of unfortunate lowly pets held captive to his demented jealous bigotry and unjustified hatred of genuine loving and compassionate beings.

Because I want to know how people define the idea or word "GOD" and the idea or word "EXISTENCE."

It is not until this is done, and agreed upon can anyone attempt to prove or disprove if God exists.

If it works for you, I like it fine. You are ultimately the one who decides what is real to you anyway. It always boils down to that. Proof is always a matter of belief.

But I don't have any desire to prove to you that I exist or that God exists or not. I just want to know how people define "existentence" and "God."

JB the meaning of God is different for each person. Some may find no common definition because it means something to each perspectively.

God is a Supernatural Super Spiritual perfect being having Supernatural powers believed in and worshipped by a people.Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent. Self-existent, Eternal, indescribable.

Originator, Creator and Ruler of the Universe and all therein. The principal object of faith and worship in monotheistic religions like xtianity, judaism, and islam.

God is one or something that is worshipped, followed and given adoration to. It can be a graven image/carved image or idol or statue like what the catholics worship.

god can be money. or even a man or a supernatural being believed to control some aspect of life, like rain, or the sea and yes the sun, moon and stars.

God is a Powerful Ruler.

even satan himself is a god.

your belief in God can also depend on your culture.

God a divine being, Everlasting, Immortal being.

god can also be food, drugs, music, sex, wife, husband , child, celebrity, trees, alcohol, work, religious figure, people, etc, etc, you get the idea. anything can be god.

the meaning of a word, be it God, a divinity, supreme being or creator does not aid anyone in arguing for against its existence. The very word existence is subjective. Some say in order for something to exist it needs nothing more then to be an idea and concept. So then the real question becomes are we the created, the creator, or the created of the creator which we created? Most people tend to behave that thinking about such states of existence is to complicated. Since this makes things even harder for them to explain much less understand they dimiss it's existence in favor of a much simplier form of explanation for all of existence. The problem for these people is things can never just be. They have to have a reason or explanation for things and sadly this results in a vicious cycle of needing more reasons and explanations to explain their reasons and explanations. In the end they entrap themselves into not being able to question the said need becuase the need depend on the reason and explanation which in turn depends on the need that is in question. The problem that arises from this way of thinking in people is it then has to become one or the other. It has to exist or it does not exist. It can never just be which is both as one in the same. This is why a Taoist would say this to the question. Its lack of existence creates the need to exist and becuase it then exists it has to bring its existence into question and therefore does not exist. It is this very absence that required a presence to exist so that its absence could be understood. This is the Taoist story of creation. The Tao also called Wu chi and the void because of the need of its non- existence to exist divided and became yin and yang. These divided and created the greater and the lesser. These divided and became the eight trigrams and then 64 and unto the 10,000 myriad things that make up the entire universe.

Morning song I know that you think that you know God and that God has blessed you by revealing Itself/himself to you but you are not qualified to make any statements about whether or not God will "ever reveal himself" to anyone.

In your own right you are very arrogant in that you truly believe that you are one of the few chosen who know God.

You do not know me nor have you walked in my shoes nor do you know the spiritual nature of my soul or my will.

What works for you is personal for you and works for you, but your mistake is in your insistence that there is only one path and one way to spiritual awareness or enlightenment or salvation or whatever, and you believe that it is your path.

So in truth you are saying to people, "Follow me, I know the way..." and you are setting yourself up as a guru or one who speaks for God.

I think you are happy in your faith, but you must at some point realize that your way is not the way for all and it is not the only way no matter how much you believe it is.

There are as many uniques ways to spirit(God) as there are individuals. Don't think that they all must walk the same path as you.

First you insult me by claiming that I have an insincere heart, then you go on to ask me if I'm listening when what you've just stated applies directly to you!

You're the one who claims to know God.

You're the one who's telling God who he must be!

You're demanding that God be the nasty fellow that the Mediterraneans wrote about.

What will you do when you discover that God isn't a male-chuavinist pig who lusts for blood sacrifices and had his son nailed to a pole to pay for your rebellious nature?

Will you be disappointed? huh

I make no claims of what God must be like, other than to suggest that if God isn't at least as nice as me it wouldn't be much of a God.

You are the one who's ramming the words of some ancient mythology into the mouth of God.

Why do you do that? Have you no respect for God? huh

You don't see me raming words in God's mouth.

I denounce the book that you have chosen to worship as the word of God. I think it's ungodliness is vividly apparent. Even as a mortal man I am more intelligent and more compassionate then the God those ancient men made up.

They shot themsleves in the foot far too many times and clearly blew their cover.

No, MorningSong, I'm not telling God what God must be. You are!

The only things that I know with absolute certainty is that I am indeed pure at heart and I have not failed my creator. I also know that I am both, more intelligent, and more compassionate, then the ficticious God that the Mediterranean's created to excuse their horrible behavior.

For God's sake MorningSong! I could write a better book than they did.

There is overwhelming evidence of why that picture cannot be the inspired word of the creator of this universe and is clearly nothing more than a very lame set of stories to try to excuse the bad behavior of a very rude and crude culture.

Yet, here you are telling God what God must be, and then accusing me of doing precisely that!

No, MorningSong, I do not define God and shove the words of ancient bigots into the mouth of God.

You are the one who is doing that. flowerforyou

So please, don't accuse me of what you are doing.

God Will NOT Reveal Himself to ANY of Us,

Unless we FIRST SEEK after Him with our WHOLE HEART!!!

Why?

Cause GOD WILL NEVER EVER EVER ....

INFRINGE ON MAN'S FREE WILL!!!!!!!!!

:heart::heart::heart:

So?

Who are you to say that Jeannie (or myself) are not seeking God with all our heart?

Just because we've seen through a horrid bigoted hateful doctrine of an ancient culture doesn't mean that we've given up on God.

In fact, to even suggest that those men spoke for God would be the greatest insult I can imagine giving to God.

If you were seeking your father and someone came to you with a book that decribed a man who was a child molester and a horrible parent who lusted for blood sacrifices and had his son nailed to a pole what would you do?

Would you say, "Oh wow! I found my father!"

Not me. I'd just hand them the book back and say, "Sorry, but my father would never do these horrible things, this must be a profile of someone else."

Well, it's the same way with my heavenly father MorningSong.

If I'm going to choose a picture that I THINK might be of my creator, the very FIRST thing I'm going to do is choose a picture that represents a being who is AT LEAST as nice as me!

Well, that rules out the Bible.

I wouldn't take that godforsaken picture and show it to my creator and say, "HERE! I thought this was YOU!"

My God! That would be a horrific insult to my creator to do such a thing.

So I've already completely ruled out the Mediterranean pictuer as obviously being ungodly and NOT representative of the creator of this universe.

In fact, I've found a much prettier picture in Eastern Mysicism.

I found a beautiful picture of God that I can show God and say, "Here I thought this was you." flowerforyou

And I will have no fear whatsoever of insulting God.

Now according to you (and that horrid Mediterranean mythology), when I do that God is going to take a fit!

He's going to start taking temper tantums and sceaming at me:

"NO! NO! NO!

This isn't me!

I'm nowhere NEAR this nice!

How DARE you think that I'm nice!

I'm sending you straight to HELL for thinking that I could this NICE!

How DARE you think that I'm NICE!"

That's what you're asking me to believe MorningSong.

You're asking me to believe that if I choose to believe that God is nice, then God will HATE me for that and punish me for thinking that my creator was actually nice.

Sorry.

That just doesn't work for me.

I'm going to place my faith in the belief that God is NICE.

If I'm wrong then so be it.

At least my heart will be in the right place.

I don't buy into your belief that God will HATE me for thinking that God is actually nice.

The Mediterranean culture was not nice, and the things they claimed that their God did were not nice.

There is absolutely no reason why I should believe that their book and claims have anything at all to do with God.

Their book is NOT NICE! And neither is their God!

It's not godly.

I'm not going there EVER AGAIN!

That is the work of evil men.

There is nothing divine about it.
