I say screw the painting. Lets me and you go find some real lions. Get you a dress like that and take some pictures.

Nothing beats the real thing.

Are you a photographer?

I am not. Working on getting a very nice camera as I would like to start it as a hobby. So right now all I got is my digital. It's all good though!

I just bought a digital camera and a tripod so I can start photographing my paintings and I am going to take pictures to sell on the Internet to designers.

It was only $219.00 at Walmart and has 10X optical zoom plus 5X digital zoom and all the features I wanted.

I needed it so I can photograph my art for my website when I start selling my art on line.

That's the plan anyway.

Minus the skin on the floor.... it gives a sense of submission of the lions that surround, rather than respectful calmness of them, and an acceptance of the subject.... I don't feel the skin on the floor is necessary to portray strength.

Otherwise, what a glorious possible art piece.

Thanks for the suggestion. You could be right. I could also change the floor to rocks and put her into the wild surroundings of lions instead of a Roman type building.

Nope, if I change the background, I will have to change the clothes too. Something less Roman.

I would keep the Romanesque background... symbolizing the wild within the walls of civilization.....you could add ivy or something of than nature to give it a more ruined aspect.. overcoming civilization

Now once I make all these changes, it will be a completely different painting and totally original. laugh laugh laugh

Now you can see why I do the thumbnail on the computer. If I did all that work on a canvas it would be a mess.

If I did that, I would not have to change her clothes.

Taking the tiger skin out takes her out of India type energy.

I like that idea. Make the background ruins.

I want something that would appeal to a large expanse of the population.

Excuse the disrespectful comment, however it was the first thing that came to mind reading your previous post....

perhaps she needs to be topless to appeal to a wider population??

If you are looking for any web design or hosting I can hook you up for free. I need a new project to work on. Practice makes perfect. I'm only running three websites on my server right now and it can hold a lot more than that. Let me know. =p

I am a web designer too and I build and host sights for a few local businesses. I have 11 sites on my reseller account that I maintain. Four of them are mine. I have not gotten around to finishing the design for my oil painting site. And I need to finish one for my tarot deck sight as we will begin to market that this year hopefully. We have about five cards to finish on our new deck.

I completely agree with the above.. but I do my layouts with old school sketches...I tend to like how mixing the colors can do their own thing...its almost a sub conscious way of allowing the paint to speak for itself

Rlyanne,

So you are an artist and also read tarot cards? Have you ever designed a tarot deck or thought about it yet?

Here is one of my still life pics. It has a secret message. Can you guess what the secret message is?

I actually have considered designing a tarot deck...but I have run into a bit of indecision past major arcana...

What we did was to design the deck for our personal use. We had so many compliments on it and people wanted to buy it, but we could not market it because there were copyright violations in the art we used.

So we had to do another one using art from old masters. That is the one we are just about finished with.

I sure have learned a lot about the tarot in the process. My friend Darla is a tarot card collector and has been into it for many more years than me so I told her that she has final say on the designs we put in this new deck. I just help her with the art and composition when she needs it. It was her dream to create her perfect deck so she will have it her way. We will share copyright on all designs as we work very closely together on them.

that is absolutely phenomenal.. I have wanted to create my own for a long time simply because the energies would be a better source for my personal use.. it does add a lot of understanding to the tarot itself
I am a bit of a collector but I can also be rather choosy if the art work doesn't speak to me I won't buy it...

Well Darla says that she has seen every deck out there and she claims that there is NONE that can top this one as far as the art work is concerned.

We are really amateurs as far as digital art is concerned and we are learning as we go. The cards print up nicely on my new printer, but we are looking for a printer to do the deck we will be selling. Both Darla and me will write a book to go with the deck.

I have two threads where I do daily readings:

I am an artist and the way I plan a painting is by doing thumbnails on the computer to arrange my picture the way I want and then I paint it on canvas.

I sometimes borrow ideas and items from some of the old masters paintings, or from photos I take in putting together the thumbnails.

Here is a painting I am planning that is a self portrait of me when I was about 27 years old. I merged it with a painting and changed the lions the way I wanted. It will be painted on a 24 by 36 inch canvas.

Shall I paint this picture? Vote yes or no.

The design is similar to a design we have been using in our tarot deck called "strength" below:

Here is the thumbnail of the proposed painting put together on the computer, with my face on it:

I like the original, read all the suggestions, and from my heart feel that the outcome will be awesome. How long will it take you to paint?
