"So quick to the gun..."

So I open the newspaper or click on the news, and another kid is shot down. Is it just me or are kids these days growing up like pansies? Back when I was younger, we fought with fists at most maybe a blunt object (depending on the number of opponents)...so why the hell do so many kids fight with guns? Personally I won't use a gun as I prefer a knife if I'm going to deal out some damage.

I woke up from my coma on April 20th, 1999...I know more about that shooting than a lot of people do. This isn't to point out a few freak occurences of kids who can't take being bullied, this is to point out why do people use guns. And yes when I was 14 we still used fists, not guns. Again, freak occurence...common occurence, big difference.

maybe in your area but not in mine. guns were common occurance in my high school for years before i even got there. maybe its just barely reaching you. or you're barely noticing but in more urban areas.. its not shocking. it never has been.

i don't know what you mean by a coma but i'm just saying that this isnt new. and if you used your fists thats fine but don't assume you know more about anything than anyone else.

guns are guns. they are used to create fear and intimidate. they are also used to rustle up dinner. just depends on who you're talkin to.

Using a gun instead of fighting is taking the easy way out.

Trust me, I do know a lot more about Columbine then a lot of people do. Guns have been in school for years, but rarely if ever used. Hence why there are only a handful of school shootings, and maybe a few more being used for intimidation...however you are completly outside the point of the question...which you lot seem to all too good at, makes me wonder why the hell I even bother to ask anything...

And, that's why I'm so hell bent on getting my concealed weapons permit/license.. And, being able to walk around without worrying what if someone pulls a gun.. I'll be able to draw mine faster and the laser I'll have on it will be all the intimidation I'll need.. I think knowing I wouldn't miss would be enough to make them think twice about what they were doing.. If not... One less idiot running the streets. *shrugs* everyone has they're opinon about it.. But, it's so easy for people to get ahold of them illegally nowa days *easier now that 15-20 years ago* I think anyways.. Ok I said my 2 cents.. Sure I'll get griped at... Oh well.

But to answer the question, a bag of Tostidos costs $5 dollars now. If I were young and disgruntled because I couldn't afford nachos, I'd want to hear the bang-bang--kids like their noise.

It's a part of the prevalent "thug culture" today, kids aren't being taught by their parents as much as the media anymore and that means irresponsibility is king. Being dangerous makes you edgy and a kid with a gun is big dog on campus.

When my Dad was a kid, children brought their guns to school for show and tell but there weren't really school shootings to speak of because they were taught the ethics that go along with power, now that weapons are illegal, kids think it's cool.

When did guns become illegal?

guns don't do didle squat, if your not vigilant enough. and most aren't aware of a stealthy fighter. i get bullies in a dark small place, and strength, quickness, and cunning always prevails. remember, all bullies cheat, so one must be prepared for those possibilities, and they are never alone if they think they are in danger. future planning is always a must, and in last resort, legal bear spray takes out about everything for about fifteen minutes, and if you can't take care of business with all that time, you deserve to perish.

When did guns become illegal?
They're illegal in most schools, open carry is illegal in most states, concealed carry is licensed. Just like drugs, illegal=exciting.

I'm not necessarily addressing the gun issue right now, though. Kids will act like prisoners and use random objects as weapons in the absence of traditional ones.

I'm glad that guns aren't allowed at my child's school.
