Man accused of hosting ‘sex parties’ for teens

LINTON, Ind. — A convicted sex offender faces sexual misconduct charges alleging that he hosted teenage “sex parties” at his home during which he gave youngsters alcohol and encouraged them to engage in sex acts.

Vincent Tyrone Carter, 43, was charged this week with sexual misconduct with a minor, two counts of child solicitation and furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors.

A Greene County judge set a $75,000 bond for Carter, a convicted sex offender, and appointed a public defender to represent him. He remained jail Saturday at the Greene County Jail.

Police say that for weeks Carter, who is unemployed, hosted parties at his Linton-area mobile home about 35 miles southwest of Bloomington that catered to young teenagers.

Linton Police Chief Troy Jerrell said investigators interviewed more than 20 youths ranging in age from 12 to 17 who said Carter hosted alcohol and sex parties at his home.

According to their statements, the man the kids called “dad” or “daddy” would charge them $5 and purchase rum, vodka and whiskey for them. He also supplied them with sex toys and encouraged them to use them while he watched.

At least a dozen youngsters reported staying overnight at the trailer during parties that were held on Friday and Saturday nights and began around the first of the year.

A 13-year-old girl said Carter would deal the cards in games of strip poker, and encouraged sexual activity.

Police found out about the alleged parties when a parent and one of the children came to the police station to report the activities.

During the course of interviews with the youngsters, police learned that a 13-year-old girl had intercourse with a 12-year-old boy in several rooms of the trailer, on different occasions.

Two girls, aged 13 and 15, said Carter took them to his bedroom where a pornographic videotape was playing, gave them each a sex toy, patted them on the back and told them to “have a good time,” then returned unexpectedly to watch.

The kids also reported that Carter would watch from his kitchen as sexual activity went on in his living room.

Police who searched the residence confiscated sex aids and devices, pornographic magazines, alcohol, tobacco and receipts for the purchases.

Carter was convicted in 1998 of child molesting and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He also was sentenced to 18 months in jail in 2004 for failing to register as a sex offender as required by Indiana law. Carter is currently listed as a sex predator on the registry.

And no one really teaches children much about sex...which is a good reason a number of crimes like this one here go unreported because children don't know the difference. 75,000 bond is actually average for a child predator, a lot of them really only get charged with solicitation because that is as far as law enforcement is willing to take it and probably as far as it will go successfully without hitting on double jeopardy. It isn't that easy to convict someone that preys on children mainly because the star witness is the child and they are not always so willing to stand trial.

Full circle...

lobotomy / castration, and anything else necessary. And then have them chained together to work on county farms... I had one living behind me a few years ago. At the time there was a lady and her 3 children here. All under 10 years old. I saw him talking to one of the kids. I made it clear to him just what to expect from me and it wasn't going to be a pretty sight. I made his life a living hell posters warning the neighbors that there is a sexual pred in the neighborhood. ( police suggested btw).. And some things I may not of been allowed to do... He finally left the area . Where abouts unknown to this day. But they still have him listed as living next door. He moved and never re registered. The lady and her children no longer live here.

My daughter came straight to me when a convicted offender flashed her...he is still doing his time...he received 18 years...but I had always made it clear to my kids that no matter what they threaten you with....come to me! Bad people lie to children to hurt them and frighten them, I was so proud of her in the courtroom...her testimony enabled children to be free of him for 18 years

IMO they should be locked up forever. from what I know....they can't be rehabed. I may be wrong about this though

what's sad is they are everywhere. I met one on another dating site. things he said weren't sitting right with me so i did some checking on him

he was a registered child sex offender and spent 15 yrs in prison and had just gotten out
