Yes, that has happened to me. I ended the relationship because I could not hold back my feelings for him. He was honest about not feeling the same way but said it could grow to that level. I just felt we were on two different paths. It was painful yes; however, the communication allowed closure. I think this is a big part of dating and romance. We just have to learn how to internalize feelings and use healthy means to resolve them.  I agree with you. I think this is a big part of dating and romance.

At this point in my life , i try to guard my feelings well, 
and not allow myself to fall in love with someone too quickly 
so that i don't get hurt..  .
of course it has been a constant learning situation 
and you get better at it as you get older & wiser...
