Topic: Would you take your baby on a first date?

I went downstairs to have some garlic bread and a soda. The couple at the table across the isle form me were having dinner and had a baby. Probably not yet walking, but looked big enough to be nearly there.

They were getting their left overs boxed up when I got there. They continued to hand around and talk. Eventually the baby started to get a little fussy and they started talking a little louder.

I realized they were meeting in person for the first time and had met on Facebook. And they were talking about things I would have already talked about before I ever met a person. Maybe I'm just odd that way.

Nothing seems out of the ordinary until I realized this was a first date.

My first thought is, would you take your baby with you on a first date? Okay, maybe. Can't find a sitter. Baby's too young to get attached from one dinner.

My second thought it, wouldn't you want to wear something nicer than a sweat shirt and jeans? And look a little more presentable than a sloppy pony tail and no make-up?

He was in nice jeans and a nice shirt and she looked like she had spent the day doing house cleaning and didn't care what she looked like to go meet this man for the first time.

Am I the only one that finds this odd?

Children on dates are a bad thing. They should only come into play well into the relationship.

Judging from his body language, I'm guessing there won't be a second date. Leaning back in his chair, away from the table, with his arms crossed in front of him.

Could a person possibly think that a baby could be a buffer and an excuse if you realize you really want to leave the date as soon as possible? But wouldn't a person realize that a baby would actually be the date killer?

thanks lovethelorddrinker

but when you think about it, if they are looking like all of you are looking, you would understand this is real life, and it's never perfect, sometimes romantic, can turn on a dime, or be smooth as glass sometimes, and if you know that they have a family, and you wanna get on board, does it really matter when the littleone is introduced? picnics are way better for that type of first meeting, i'd agree, but i say.......if you're gonna talk, TALK! if you're gonna shoot, SHOOT!......don't talk.
