Ugh! I am waiting for a friend to cross the canadian-american border. So that we can work on a presentation. He e-mail about two hours ago that he was on his way. Five bucks says, he got detained on the border. whoa Stupid racial profiling crap!

I got hassle at the border when i crossed it. I was with pink_lady and papersmile and we were on the way to Michigan for a meet with a load of people we knew. When i tried to explain to the officer that i was travelling with someone i met on the internet and going to meet another bunch of people i was looked at like i was a weirdo. He couldnt understand why i didnt know the surname of the person i was going to be staying with for a few days.

He is lebanese decent.

He always jokes about it. 'I have 3 freakin vowels in a row in my name, I am going to get stopped!'

Crossing into Canada isn't a problem for Americans. But a pain in the @ss to get back into America. I haven't crossed the border since I was 19, so almost 10 years ago (much easier than).

That reminds me of this summer past, when Dan and Lisa came to Canada.

We drove to Michigan for a site meet and while they did bring their passports, apparently they needed something else, being that they were European, so we were pulled aside and questioned.

Of course it all became much worse when we said we were going to a friend's house, yet we didn't know her address, her phone number, or even her last name. laugh

US Customs thought we were crazy travelling all that distance having that information. Haha, Dan almost advised him to log into the site and read the ongoing thread about the Michigan Meet. I bet we would have stayed the night.

Anyhow, I found my address book in the car and we were able to at least provide an address as to where they'd be staying and they did let us continue our journey.

I hope your friend makes it soon. It IS the March Break, so I imagine the border is busy anyway.

Yeah and the way they quizzed me and pink-lady for being Brits! We are possibly America's greatest allies, but that obviously doesnt mean anything.

On Christmas eve, they almost didn't let him cross to come to the university. It was still open and he wanted to pick up his paycheck. whoa Rolls eyes! He said that they called the university to make sure that it was open.

They question just about everyone. But, if they pull you aside, you know you will be stuck there for a while. Personally, it is ridiculous sometimes.

I have many friends that are arab descent. And I was traveling with my 'little brother' he was born here, but grew up most of this life in Lebannon. The only time that airport security didn't screen him, when he was traveling with me.

I hope so too! The office closes in 10 minutes. So I would have to email him and meet him somewhere else!
