It's funny that a nation comprised of immigrants now wants to close the doors. Mirror I think you are wasting your time asking why this is good news for...did he say..."Obamanites"? I might ask just what makes someone an "Obamanite" but it would only be for the sake of a laugh. There is so much regulation that burdens the citizen nowadays. We all have to be tracked and taxed. We all have to go through the proper channels to get help if we need it. It's not about closing doors. I don't have anything against immigrants providing they don't come here just to burden society (live off wellfare or other social programs). The doors are very open. We just ask they go through the proper channels (which needs work) obey the laws, and do their best to make something of themselves in our society. Immigration = cool by me Illegal Immigration = not so cool. ![]() The question which arises from "The Dream Act" is, Do you consider children born in America to be American Citizens? "The Dream Act" offers nothing more than an answer to this question. It does not offer amensty to illegal immigrants. Unless, You dont consider these children to be American Citizens. |

"The Dream Act" offers nothing more than an answer to this question. It does not offer amensty to illegal immigrants. Unless, You dont consider these children to be American Citizens. Very simplistic answer for your believers! ![]() ![]() ![]() Common sense would dictate, any Anchor child between 12 and at least 18 years old would need parents to care for them. At least one of the parents is an Illegal and by Law, needing deported. In that case, the Anchor child could stay with the legal parent. If both parents of said Anchor child are Illegal, by law, need deporting, taking the child with them. The child would have every right to come back when they are of Legal age. Illegals who bring their children with them, under this Bill could be eligible for benefits. Wouldn't make much sense granting an Illegal child, between 12 and 18 years old, benefits if the Illegal parents, by Law, need deporting. If the Law were enforced and the Illegal parents were deported, who would care for these kids. As I said before, a good Political move is to use kids to gain sympathy and support for a Bill that would get a BIG FOOT in the door, leading to seeking Pelosi/Obama's push for outright Blanket Amnesty. BAD, BAD, BILL. According to the 2009 version of the bill[7], DREAM Act beneficiaries must have: * Proof of having arrived in the United States before age 16.[8] * Proof of residence in the United States for a least five (5) consecutive years since their date of arrival, compliance with Selective Service[9]. * Must be between the ages of 12 and 35 at time of bill enactment. * Having graduated from an American high school, or obtained a GED. * "Good moral character" During the first six years, the immigrant would have been granted "conditional" status, and would have been required to graduate from a two-year community college or complete at least two years towards a 4-year degree, or serve two years in the U.S. military. After the six year period, an immigrant who met at least one of these three conditions would have been eligible to apply for legal permanent resident status. During this six year conditional period, immigrants would not have been eligible for federal higher education grants such as Pell grants, though they would have been able to apply for student loans and work study.[10] If the immigrant did not meet the educational or military service requirement within the six year time period, their temporary residence would have been revoked and they would be subject to deportation. They also must not commit any crimes other than those considered non-drug related misdemeanors, regardless of whether or not they have already been approved for permanent status at the end of their six years. Being convicted of a major crime, or drug-related infraction would have automatically removed the six year temporary residence status and they would have been subject to deportation. If the immigrant met all of the conditions at the end of the 6-year conditional period, they would have been granted a permanent residency, which would have eventually allowed them to become U.S. citizens. An estimated 65,000 immigrant students [11] who meet the initial basic requirements graduate from high school each year.[12] However, it is not known how many of those were eligible go on to complete the further requirements. It is estimated that currently only 7,000–13,000 college students nationally can fulfill the further obligations, a drastic drop from the already limited pool of those initially eligible. [13] |

That don't make the Illegal Parent/ parents exempt from deportation. |

seeing as ins no longer exists and is now homeland security and i would imagine if the story is legit it was from the past and out dated just a thought but hey what do i know True. INS is now CIS - U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services and is under the Dept of Homeland Security. INS was under Justice, although many mistakenly believed it was under State. |

This Bill would give the child, an Illegal Immigrant via parents, ages 12 to 35 the ability to go to school here. It has nothing to say about the Anchor child. It's all to benefit the Illegal entrant. I don't know how this topic got turned inti discussion of Anchor Children. The bill gives rights to children who are here Illegally. |

Here is how I look at it.
Laws are in place to make order. Right? The difference between a legal and an illegal act is, that one is done by within the boundaries of laws, while the other is by disprespecting the laws. Do we agree? If I go an break an enter of someone's else house, I have broken the law and I will get punished for it, because breaking and entering into others' houses is "illegal". When the law will change somehow in a twisted and upside down ways and it will say that "it is not illegal" to break and enter, then i can legally break and enter and I'm not breaking the law anymore, because the law does not prohibit me anymore. Still with me? Now, the difference is between 'legal' and 'illegal' immigration is, that someone enters the country either lawfully or unlawfully. to be an illegal- you broke the law. Now, beside the usual stuff about illegal immigrants (not paying taxes, not having papers etc), I'm gonna talk about another side of the dangers of being an illegal immigrant. People can't see the dangers of being unregistered in a country. I can. I did know illegals in USA. You are nobody. You got no name, no social security, you must get jobs illegaly. You are not entitled to a judge if you get to court, you cannot call the police for help, you cannot apply for a driver's licence, you can't have insurance and you cannot register a vehicle under your name, because you do not exist. So what's the kickback? Well, since you are nobody and not been registered, you can be killed, tortured, or raped and no one will know about it or could do anything about it. I got numerous and well documented examples of illegals turning to prostitution, working in sweatshops, being killed without anyone's knowing or even being kidnapped as a sex or work slave. Is this so hard to comprehend? Oh and yeah, a legal immigrant of USA is telling you this, so don't even try to tell me that I have a bias against immigrants. |
