I'm putting a new ceiling in my bedroom. I can't have this.

This is saying that dry wall from China is bad.

"Now that decision is haunting hundreds of homeowners and apartment dwellers who are concerned that the wallboard gives off fumes that can corrode copper pipes, blacken jewelry and silverware, and possibly sicken people."

Can you imagine drywall doing all of that?!

"The drywall apparently causes a chemical reaction that gives off a rotten-egg stench, which grows worse with heat and humidity."

Yikes!

I know what you're talking about. I bought carpet several years ago.

This sounds even worse.

China is not held to the regulations American suppliers have to adhere to in the manufacturing of anything. Chinese plastic also has lead in it. They dump Melanine in all kinds of consumption products. they don't care. Contaminated wall board? Sounds like China...

Hummmmmmmmmmm well there is and easy solution to that problem make sure you buy the drywall from Home Depot. This is from their website.

"The Home Depot: Fact Check"

INTEGRITY OF DRYWALL PRODUCTS

The Home Depot sells domestically-produced drywall. The Company has not and does not sell drywall made in China or other overseas sources. Simply, shipping drywall from such a distance is not cost effective for us or our customers and is a practice we have not pursued. On the matter of quality, we have very strict policies and procedures in place to ensure the integrity of the building materials sold in our stores, and we take pride in our ability to partner with suppliers to maintain these standards for our customers following significant weather events.

See matter solved buy American Products and keep Americans working!!

No. I had a roof leak in my kitchen and then got a new roof. Poof...after the new roof, I got a roof leak in my bedroom.

I'm buying the drywall next week to redo the bedroom ceiling. Now I have to figure out where it comes from.

Your welcome, good luck with the project been there done that. Actually had to have several ceilings replaced due to roof damage and rain. I tell ya nothing like when the insulation gets soaked and weakens the ceiling. Slowly you see the bulge next thing you know it has gotten bigger. Then one day you come in and well seems you have insulation and half your ceiling on the floor. grumble

Hummm all due to the Insurance adjuster and the roofer neither one paid any attention to the fact that hey if the roof is leaking and you have water spots on the ceiling and you fix the roof duhhhhhhhhhhhhh you have not fixed the whole problem. For the insulation soaked up a big part of the water and is slowly deterioration the sheet rock to the point that it will finally not be able to hold the weight and gives away.slaphead

Lol the beauty of being a homeowner!!

But hey look at it this way while your at it you might as well revamp up the whole room new paint ect..

..well if you just got a new roof i suggest you call who ever did it and tell them to fix it..if not you can wait til it rains and go up in the attic and see where its coming from..bad thing about roof leaks is they come in one place then travel down the rafters..you may be able to go up there when its dry and see the water marks on the rafters and trace it back to the source..

..usually things like chimneys, sky lights,or the valleys in the roof are good sources for leaks also areas around bathroom vent pipes, pretty much anything that protrudes thru the roof line would be a place to look first jmo..
