| *sighs and snags the opportunity* bendy is not necessarily a good thing. it can be a symptom and part of an underlying collagen disorder. our entire bodies are made of collagen, and if it isn't formed correctly, we break and bend more easily. that bending...comes with a price. recurrent joint dislocations and sublaxations lead to a lifetime of chronic pain. may is national ehlers-danlos syndrome awareness month. for the future of your bodies, please take care of them now. Are you kidding me? I have Ehler's-Danlos! Was diagnosed at age 14 after I broke my lower spine. When I was researching it, I couldn't even find it on the NORD site (Nat'l Organization for Rare Disorders). Of course, this was about 12yrs ago... Most people don't even know about it... I joke about being double-jointed...but it's nice to know someone who is educated about the disorder... i wish that i WAS kidding. my mother and i were diagnosed a bit over a year ago at the same time that they diagnosed my little one. there is a wonderful website for educational information, pamphlets, cd-roms, bracelets, medical cards...a forum to discuss the disorder with others affected and such. it's www.ednf.org | |
