Troops to be sent to the border to help keep the violence in Mexico
I've searched and searched and can only find one article saying BHO was considering it.
Wasn't it supposed to be an emergency?
Help me out here.
Where are they?

I'm talking about the buildup that was supposed to happen a month ago.
There's been no more coverage even about killings over in Mexico.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- While the president has said states asked to deploy troops to the U.S. border with Mexico, the Pentagon has not received specific requests to do so, a Pentagon spokesman said Thursday.
President Barack Obama says the United States is exploring how it can help Mexico's drug war.

The Defense Department is concerned about the escalating drug cartel violence in Mexico, and the U.S. government is in the process of determining if it can provide additional means to help the Mexican government, spokesman Bryan Whitman said.

President Barack Obama on Wednesday told reporters that he's taking under advisement requests to deploy National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry made an urgent call for up to 1,000 more troops, he said.

The United States is currently providing the Mexican government with five helicopters, a Marine surveillance vehicle and handheld scanners, Whitman said.

Any troops that might be sent would protect only the U.S. side of the border, he added, and there are no discussions of sending American troops into Mexico.

WASHINGTON, March 12, 2009 – As President Barack Obama considers deploying National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to control escalating violence, Arizona's governor has requested about 250 more National Guard troops on its border with Mexico, and the Texas governor is considering a similar action.

“We’re going to examine whether, and if, National Guard deployments would make sense and in what circumstances they would make sense as part of this overall review of our border situation,” Obama told reporters yesterday, according to media reports. The White House does not release transcripts of media roundtable sessions.

“I haven’t drawn any conclusions yet,” reporters said Obama told them. “I don’t have a particular tipping point in mind.”

While emphasizing that he does not want to “militarize” the border, Obama called it “unacceptable if you’ve got drug gangs crossing our borders and killing our citizens.”

The Obama administration plans to send reinforcements to the Southwest border to help contain the rampant violence of the Mexican drug cartel wars.

Thirty-seven agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms are being deployed to the region. An official familiar with the plan said the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency is considering reassignment of at least 90 officers to the border.

The official requested anonymity because the plan has not yet been announced.

The deployments are part of President Barack Obama's first moves to boost federal security sources on the U.S. side of the border.

The additional immigration agents would double the size of an ongoing ICE task force that has been working with other federal agencies to fight the criminal organizations contributing to the border violence.

The ATF agents will be added to anti-gunrunning teams in McAllen, Texas, El Centro, Calif., and Las Cruces, N.M., as well as to U.S. consulates in Juarez and Tijuana. Some of the reinforcement costs will be covered with economic recovery money recently approved by Congress.

what the border sheriffs are asking for is sorta like a rapid response force. The sheriffs can handle the law enforcment but when they get into a confrontation they are outgunned and need backup

Really???? It is my understanding (from my website from those that have the agenda) that it was April 15th for a reason. It was nationwide event everywhere yesterday. It was followed closely by fox news. Local and national news also made it clear it was APRIL 15TH.
