what would you-all say?? I consider myself nice, but have been treated very unkind in many places, for helpping out older folks in need.

The world can be a brutal place, and at times it may seem that "nice" isn't appreciated. I don't let that stop me, though. I figure what goes around comes around, and eventually the good things you do will be rewarded :)

In the meantime, screw the haters and keep on doing what you do.

I don't think people are "always" anything. I see what you're saying. So what is the alternative? I'd rather be nice and be treated unkind at times, than be a biotch and treated unkind because I deserved it.

Being kind is not the problem. Using discretion is usually. Discretion for what kind of help is being asked for, discretion to if it could be a manipulation, discretion for motives on the kindee or kinder, etc...

The dynamics of the interaction is the problem usually.

maybe i should say; it seems ,like being nice is not looked on nicely by some people. Oh, I try to show kindness, to all I come in contact with. I have always wanted to help older people eat- foods they would like ,when their ssi is not enough.(with NO OTHER motives, but being kind to someone, that needs it.)

Then you are doing a good deed and that will be rewarded back to you in one way or another. Keep on keeping on!

If you want to do that, why not volunteer for meals on wheels or another similar org? And who cares how people look at you for it? Those who don't appreciate you for you shouldn't have any impact on what you believe in doing or wish to do.

The grass is always greener on the other side. Just be yourself.

Thanka, ladywolf9653. I do already volunteer. (I was just thinking others may see what i have been seeing for years.) Oh, I will always help in 6 other org. as I have always done.

Do you mean others may see that being nice doesn't have a reward? If that's the case, are they friends/family that look down upon you for it? I mean, yes I've seen people laugh at others and mock them for volunteering, but they're usually selfish, small minded people whose opinions mean jack diddly to me. So, I'm confused as to why you allow it to impact you.

But maybe that's just me :)

Guess, i should correct my title. (I have been told by so many:) "Well you know, nice guys are always last.But-- They did honor me one time, back in, the 1970's.---NO, what I mean is that: myself as one person, can only do so much; Other older people think because they did not get help that day--from me --they just want to give up.

Well, we shouldn't do good deeds to be seen. do them in secret, so to speak, and the reward will be openly given.

Hmmmmmm, I'm confused now. Not that that's unusual for me, but I think I've lost the thread of what this is about, so I'm going to wander away :)
