(((lilbug)))) so nice to see you. I will try all of the things suggested here, and give it time, I think it will work, he has lots of toys to play with, and he stays home alone only for a few hours, until my son comes from school.
maybe you right.....smile2

well thankfully the shock collar is illegal here and anyone who advocates its use should be made to wear one - i will gladly press the button! u get nice collars that spray citrus etc everytime the dog barks - totally harmless yet effective. altho really its all about negative attention seeking. the more he does it the more he gets a response from u. so really if u have the patience u should remove him from the situation immediately (time out) without saying ANYTHING. when he is quiet you should respond with a lot of praise, this method takes a lot of time and patience but you, the dog and your neighbours will appreciate such a well behaved dog! good luck

Had a Chihuahua/Yorkie mix, both known for being barky dogs. Shes not so bad about barking and I think because the other dog doesn't bark so much. Our other dog hardly barked at all.
Shock collar???
Use one with the electric fence and it works great, she stays away from it very well.
I would try other training before using the collar.

An electric fence is NOT going to stop a dog from barking...fences are to keep the dog within it's own boundaries. I work P-T at a major pet supply store...we sell the shock collars and the citrus spray collars.

Sounds to me your dog thinks it is the ALFA in the relationship.
The dog just needs to be trained out of the top roll. And the shock collar is a tool that can help in this situation.

Dogs and kids are a lot alike, some children have to be punished more than others.

Great Job! Also, water and shock are forms of torture. If your dog is really stupid, OK water, but Cesar says every dog can be rehabilitated with calm and assertive discipline. Every human is trainable, but some are too lazy to take the time and have the patience for the job.

i used the naughty box an assertive voice idea.

my dog would bark for no reson i woultell him quiet n if he didnt listen he was put in the pantry untill he quit barking an whining for 25 seconds, then i let him out. it helped me with allkinds of isues, the poopin in the house, attacking the other animals an or neighbors etc.

Two Words: Dog Whisperer Cesar Milan trains any dog without pain. And he teaches people how to be better people too. Channel 65 i.E. National Geo. Ch. What he does for barkers is catch them right when they are getting ready to bark. He says SHH! and tugs the lease sideways, short quick response. After the dog is calm you immediately give treat or affection.

Oh yeh, now there's a real winner. If he can't get the dog to do what he wants he'll pick it up and choke it half to death. Mmmm, yeh, that's what I'd want training my dog...

i don't understand the mystique with the dog whisper..can you say editited for television.. i will give him credit he knows how to handle dogs but for training all breads in different situations i don't think so.. there are just too many things different dogs need to do .,working class.. field ..etc...he is just not the all knowing ..

Get a can full of rocks. When it barks give the command to quiet and throw the can near him, not at him, the idea is to distract him. Be consistant, use the same command word every time. Call the dog to you and have him sit or lie down untill he calms down. Then praise him. Consistancy is the key. Use the same word every time, and do not let it get away with anything.

Good Idea, a time-out room. I tried leaving my dog in the shower until she would Shake!! But I couldn't get her to shake until she came out. Unless you pour some water over the top on her head, hah haha, Got any ideas about skaking in the shower? That didn't sound right, hmmmm

Get a muzzle and put it on the little rat. Fill it with insulation foam. Put on the shock collar and throw him in the lake. Take that guys box of rocks and toss it in on top of him. He will learn his lesson well.

dogs bark, fish swim, birds fly

you're trying to make the dog act against it's nature

maybe torture and punishment will work
