Now, this would be a good deal if they were going to pay cash money. I have a yard full of junkers I'll sell them.laugh

What they offer, I bet you could get more on a trade in. That is, if you can afford to buy a new one.

Yet, it seems, they want to force us to buy new cars.

Hey BHO! Listen up, dude. The way to stimulate the economy is quit bailin' out the losers!

Obama, lawmakers agree on "cash-for-clunkers" bill

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama and Democratic lawmakers reached agreement on Tuesday on a legislative proposal designed to stimulate U.S. auto sales, which have fallen to near 30-year lows.

The one-year plan crafted by members of the U.S. House of Representatives would offer vouchers worth up to $4,500 for owners to replace their less fuel efficient vehicles for models that get better gas mileage.

The goal of the "cash for clunkers" legislation is to sell 1 million vehicles.

"By stimulating consumer demand for new vehicles, this proposal will directly benefit domestic autoworkers and automotive manufacturers, which have arguably been hardest hit by the current economic downturn," said Rep. John Dingell, a Michigan Democrat and staunch industry ally.

House Majority leader Steny Hoyer has embraced the proposal and said in an interview with Reuters in April that the measure would be acted upon quickly once proposed.

Sounds good to me, in fact I am going to tell my neighbor who was waiting for the right opportunity to get better fuel milage. 4500 for her old clunker would be a great deal.

Before she sells to the Gov., get her to see how much she could get on trading it in.

She already tried that and she wouldn't get zip. I even went with her, because I know more about buying cars than she does. I already knew she would not get much but with this offer she would putting herself with in the right monthly payment. I would be a great deal for her. And I imagine others too.

I would actually find a source of better information. Personally I am keeping my low gas milage car till I drop, that is why I have taken good care of it. No more payments for me, thank you. But for someone that has the money to do payments, might be a good opportunity, but I think I would want a bit more information on how this deal works. Don't see anything about it being paid for by taxpayers, but it just doesn't interest me enough to look it up.

I really like this idea. The more people that drive the little pieces of junk, will lower the prices on the real cars. I took advantage of the gas price debacle last summer and bought a gas guzzling V8 sports sedan. The dealer was so happy that I wanted one, and had good enough credit to buy it, dropped the price by $5000...

This all assures that I will have plenty of gas to fill the tank...

Thanks greenies !!!!
