Yes, Spider, I agree with you. I am not argueing the points you have
made and I understand that many morals of any society are raised to
consciousness by people of religion. I was simply putting my view
about FEDERAL or NANTIONAL law into context by indicating that this US
Federal government is, ITself violating the first amendment.

Only until challenged by someone and taken to the supreme court.

I have the right to practice my choice of religion and no man made law
can prevent this.

this is however not a part of the religious thread as it has now become
a series of postings upon the constitution of the US. Therefore I
suggest if you wish to continue debate upon this subject we take it to

What would the supreme court do exactly? First, unless they were
extremely liberal, they wouldn't take the case. The court has to obey
the laws of the US and the law allows States to establish laws on
religion. They can also force all residents to own a gun, such as a few
towns have done in the south. The town's laws could be overridden by
state laws, but there is NOTHING the Supreme Court can do.

However I do believe that the constitution does say that no state shall
have the right to abridge the Bill of Rights.

I may reside within a state but I am a citizen of the United States and
as such entitled to the rights outlined within the bill of rights.

You have no right to freedom of religion. You are protected from
Congress prohibiting the free exercise of religion. Huge difference.
