Could a scientist or a group of scientists ever prove one day that there is no such thing as a God or Goddess, or what have you?

I mean perhaps a combination of mathematics, chemistry, and physics, and other rich knowledgeable subjects thrown together may come to a conclusion that seems reasonable to believe.

Yes we have the big bang and all that, but people will ask, "Well what was before the big bang?" This is where most scientists would itch their head.

So I could imagine that this thread will die off fast, because it is a question I think many won't be able to answer, but perhaps you can come up with a defense for scientists or if you are religious a defense for your faith system that provides (logical answers).

If that is possible of course. drinker

I think even if they did, the religious would still find a means by which god could still exist.
Is it any more preposterous to believe that the universe in it's current form or in whatever form it existed in before has forever existed than to believe a creator created everything but can't be seen, leaves no tangible evidence for his existence, but has always been in existence?

Scientists can only draw conclusions on what they find, not on what they can't find. ohwell

We are not meant to find out now. We will someday find out after we pass on.

I think there will eventually be a day where our knowledge will be to the point where it will be known that a deity does not exist, and they will look back at this time, and laugh. Just as many modern day theists look back at ancient mono-theistic cultures and laugh.
In modern times, though a deity can't be ruled out, Science already has "the God Equation" a lot closer to 0(No gods exist) than to 1(God does exist)

Unfortunately, I don't think any person living at this time will live to see that day.

In the most abstract sense? Probably not.

However, most modern people already believe that Greek Mythology has been proven to be false.

Why they are taking so long to accept that the Abrahamic mythologies are equally false is beyond me.

You ask if science can prove that there is no such things as a God.

Well, from a Bibilical perspective, the Biblical myth claims that mankind is at fault for bringing death, disease and imperfections into the world.

But science has already proven that this is false.

So science has already proven that the Bible is false.

NEXT!

I think your question is easy to respond to. Scientists will never be able to prove anything doesn't exist. In order to do that - one would need to be omnipotent, and omnipresent. One could easily convince oneself that God (or Godesses) doesn't exist - but they won't be doing it with proof or evidence.

You cannot prove a negitive. They will never prove that unicorns do not exist for the same reason. However, scientist may be able to prove God does exist. For example if God really does hear our prayers that would be a transfer of some kind of energy. We should be able to measure it if it really happens.

One of the most basic truths is that "we don't know what we don't know". We don't know if the universe, as we know it, exists in a martini glass and someday we might get to the edge and look out, only to find a large eye looking back in. The only answer to a question about the future containing the word "ever" is .... we don't know.

Old saying.

"There is no such thing as an athiest in a fixhole."

All humane beings turn to "thier" GOD, in time of need, deep insecurity & to explain the unexplainable.

That is also a interesting point. Perhaps Scientists could also discover if there actually is a God one day through evidence.

One just flips the question over like a few posters have done.laugh

Actually that would be a relieve if there was evidencelaugh

Now for those having faith, I know you are going to say there IS a god so stop dreaming that there is one.

Unfortunately some of the people can't just follow blindly through faith alone. Some actually really need more evidence then just some writings of a book alone.

So be patient with other idealogies for that is the best thing one can do. drinker
